Road Kill
MWAHAHAHAHA Hell yeah
lol... on my way home last night i saw a car riding behind me, round headlights with 2 slightly raised fog lights (i always thought foglights were low cause then they would reach beneath the fog but whatever) So i get into the middle lane and slow down a bit and a brand spanking new 2007 Mustang GT California Special pulls along side of me still with temp tags. I give him thumbs up, he waves. Then a few seconds later he honks his horn 3 times. We were on a residential road at the time which has about a 1/2 strip with no lights and no side roads, just 3 lanes on either side seperated by a large grassy median and the back fences of houses beyond that. I punch it, he punches it, i start pulling on him, we ran from 30-85 and by the time i hit 85 i was still pulling on him and his headlights were 1/2 car length behind me. At 85 i had my fun and let off, there are no side roads on the whole strip and no traffic or lights but i dont trust the range of cops radars and my car is pretty loud. lol.. we hit the next intersection and he look a little bit ticket that a new egde took his brand new california special, and with his girlfriend in the car no less. lol... bout damn time i beat something... last several races ive been in involved either a econobox with turbos bigger than thier engine, or a $50,000+ car |
edge ftw :kekekegay: i would be pissed to

lol 2004 260 hp @ 5250 RPM 302 lb-ft @ 4,000 RPM 2007 300 hp @ 5750 RPM 320 lb-ft @ 4500 RPM |

2004 260 hp @ 5250 RPM 302 lb-ft @ 4,000 RPM 2007 300 hp @ 5750 RPM 320 lb-ft @ 4500 RPM Jacks car isnt stock. Not only is he significantly lighter, but he has bolt-ons and gears which more than makes up for the horsepower difference. A high geared car will always take the win from a roll as well, in the same (or similar) vehicle. Gears are essentially, a torque multiplier. it can be put into its powerband a lot faster than someone whos not geared that way. And horsepower numbers dont mean jack shit. Its torque thats the winning number and they are pretty close. |
New Fords suck!!! That is unless you buy a GT. Opps, forgot they quit making the hottest new thing to be bought off any US dealer showroom floorin the past 15 years. The new Corvette Z06 for example ,give me a break. They take a world-class N/A motor and put it in a front engine/rear drive chassis and say it can run with the world's best. No not quite, not when every sports car enthusiat in the modern world will tell you the engine needs to be further back, something like a, drum roll please... Ford GT, Enzo, Lambo, Veyron, etc...
The last SN197 I came upon was stock and like the T/A I was in, supposedly makes just over 300hp. My car isn't very far from that and weighs stock spec, but I just plummled this Mustang. I thought he let off I passed him so fast, but he said he was on it for all it had. I'm not hating on just Ford either, all the new performance cars from domestic automakers are soft and fat and ill designed to be sports cars. They are way more made for the masses/commuters. Sorry to get so far off topic, but at least let me show you the pic I have of Factory Five's LS7 mid-engine sports car I saw earlier this year: http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1253/...46cbaf59c8.jpg http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1106/...510662a32a.jpg Now that's how you do it!!! |

To get the new Z06 to run with the world's best at the 'ring in Germany took weeks of tuning and a ringer driver. Average driver, average setup, mid engine cars just handle beter. It is physics, and you can't beat physics. As for that new/old Mustang design, whatever it is designated, that weighs 4,000+ my 9 year old car can take it, stock vs, stock. That begs the question, which direction is Ford going? I see it as they are trying to sell to the masses and avoid bankruptcy, not making the hottest thing they could make. When GM was steady losing the stock battles against Ford in the 80's, they stepped up displacement in the 90's and got back in front. Why didn't/don't more 5.4s go into Mustangs to help make up the difference?
As for the bargain $ on the Z06, well it looks like a bagain price car when you get down to it. You get a much higher level of refinement when you pay the 6 digits that true exotics pull. Anyway, GM engineers have wanted to go mid-engine for a long time with the 'vette, but the old school feedback refuses to get behind such an idea. If the 'vette truly wants to step up to hallowed exotic car ground it needs to move the engine back and forget about a trunk. |
honestly...stock to stock your 88 5.0 can maybe run with a new edge v6...it wont smoke a s197 v6 and my gt can do rings around it

There is a good 500+lb. weight difference between them, so that can help to bridge the gap on a shorter track. |

Yes sir. In-fact I just had a guy come in that runs the local 1/8 in his fox and he beats up on the 197's all the time. I believe all he has is exhaust.

I know of the out of the hole fox body performance too. Believe it or not I know of one pretty stock that took a Lambo Contach(early 80's model) from the dig to 50! |

I read your thread and I think your right about that guys tune being horrible in the mach. With a good tune that dude should be making around 320rwhp and 340rwtq. With that said, I've raced LOTS of 99-04 GT's in my mach from stop light to stop light there isn't too much difference between the two cars. The difference is the 3rd gear and the extra 1,000rpm's of the 4v....like the LS1's, that's where the mach shines. Yeah, get that dude to the tuner ASAP |

The GT's problem was the powerplant. LS7 much better piece of equipment than the 'charged 5.4L. If you put a LS7 in a GT structure - WHAMO!! Supercar. Hey that's sort of the pic I posted. I know the comparison is way over-the-top, but I wasn't necessarily comparing a pony car to a fewhundredcarrun of an uber-exotic. I just mainly wanted to state that the Corvette will never be all it can be until it becomes a mid-engine platform. I know it still won't have 600+ hp like the super-exotics, but it will be really close. If you take away a lot the US mainstream OEM parts and upgrade to racer tech goodies like the exotics come with from the factory anyway, then the GM powerplant would make in excess of the 600hp mark. Supposedly such a beast is coming soon anyway, and I hope so, but even more so I would love to see a C7 Corvette with the engine out back.
