Lambo doors?

What do you guys think of lambo doors on a mustang? I plan to get them over the summer!!

Beer_farts 05-17-2005 10:13 PM

They would look bette on a mustnag than on a chyrsler 300. Where I work there was a 300 with lambo doors.Talk about tacky.

StangGT804 05-17-2005 10:20 PM

Yea that may be too far! But those 300's are one sick ride!!!

SINFUL XEPTNCE 05-17-2005 10:52 PM

i like 'em alot

i plan on putting a set on my '03 vert next year. i've priced them from $750.00 to $2500.00 installed. the later having electric pop units etc...

StangGT804 05-17-2005 11:00 PM

Yea i dont plan on doing too mcuh with exterior of mustang because they are amazing cars to me! I just want lambo's, saleen's and maybe the chin spoiler.

SINFUL XEPTNCE 05-17-2005 11:05 PM

very amazing looks wise and a kick in the ass to drive. is it just me or does anyone else feel like they are a big kid driving a really fast go-kart???

StangGT804 05-17-2005 11:08 PM

Has anyone here had experience with lambo doors before? I was wondering if it would be too heavy or would it be a pain to have on my car??

SINFUL XEPTNCE 05-18-2005 04:53 AM

from what they tell me, you can push them up w/ 1 finger if they are installed correctly

Get a Pro install

Lambo door kits have one thing in common - you need to be expert at cutting metal to install them, with good painting skills too. The back sides of the inner fenders have to be clearance cut, and a mis-cut will cost you some bodywork and a repaint for the whole fender, if not a new fender. The removal of the welded oe pieces requires cutting, grinding, sanding, prep, (and welding for some kits), then paint before the install can continue (yeah, you DON'T want to change your mind and put the oe setup back on later). The key to the whole thing is fit - trial and error will take multiple adjustments (hours), with slips capable of hurting hands or bodywork. This is not an install for the uninitiated.

In my opinion it looks best on convertibles. Installed correctly, it is one of those mods that doesn't disturb the normal look of the car until you open the doors, so it doesn't bother me like ricing-out a stang does.

DON'T DO IT!! You have a mustang, not a lambo....

Tell me what goes through your head when you see some kid with a civic trying to make it look like a mustang?

I definately feel you on that, stang conv look better with lambo doors than coupes!! But im still debating, because i want something different and i dont want to put a bodykit or anything like that on.

WikidStang 05-18-2005 01:05 PM

Wrong on cutting etc...there are places that they are direct bolt on no cutting required. They install as little as two hours per door.

I agree as the kit I ordered are complete bolt on made specifically for my year mustang. In fact, I know so because a board member on another board I frequent wrote the how to on the kit. And the best part, I only paid $700 shipped and the hinges were also powder coated black. Seems too good to be true? Well, it's true alright. I think my car would look nice with lambo doors.

I think they look great on Verts...

tripleblack 05-19-2005 09:32 AM

Which kits?

I helped install a "Vertical Door" unit that required what I describe above. There are 2 writeups (1 in MMFF (I think) and a recent 1 in the new Mustang Enthusiast) I've read in magazines, both of which required clearancing to go in. If there's a better kit, that's great news - who makes it?

Weve got an escalade that comes into work and has one of the higher end lambo door kit. Dont get lambo doors. They will never close the same again.

But what do I know... go for it and see for yourself.

StangGT804 05-19-2005 12:30 PM

I was looking to get the kit from mrbodykit.com! It looks pretty good to me!

Ugliest car in the world... haha
bet his door latches look like a rocks been chewing on them. Im telling you, your doors will never shut the same again, and you will get terrible wind noise. I work for the biggest chevy/caddy dealership in southeastern wisconsin, I see this all the time. They always come in because of wind noise and door latches being replaced every 6 months. You also wear out your weather stripping.

Besides why would you pay 2 grand to have your doors open up instead of out? Id deffiently slap a procharger on instead...

StangGT804 05-19-2005 10:39 PM

Okay, maybe you have convinced me to not spend the money on em! Are you sure because the kits on mrbodykit.com look great to me, but what do i know???/ Maybe your right!!

That was once a great looking mustang. Now it looks like a bird that hit a windshield. IMHO. :protest:

silvergt 05-22-2005 06:31 PM

it would probably be best to spend the extra money and get one made specificly for your year and model, those generic kits that claim to fit on any car are junk and would have you kicking yourself when the door wont close and you cut the old hinges so you cant put the old ones back on. if you do it right itll look bad ass, muscle mustangs and fast fords had a mach 1 with lambo doors in last year that looked sick. get what you like, not what other people say you should get.

burnsmustang 05-22-2005 06:54 PM

i think they have specific mustang

i think they have specific mustang "vert doors" on www.mrbodykit.com

StangGT804 05-22-2005 06:56 PM

But if the door wont close the same, i might as well forget that mod!!

crzhrse 05-26-2005 04:22 PM

Ok, so where are people actually reccomending to go to get the parts?? Anyone already have it done?

00steeda 05-26-2005 07:25 PM

Seems like those things are great for shows......I had a stock GT with those doors get more attention then my car......felt like a loser....lol

tripleblack 05-27-2005 04:37 AM

Easy install, according to some...

Couple of folks in this thread say its an easy bolt on install. Not my experience at all. I've asked them the give us the source for the easy-to-install versions....
