Xbox & PC integration

Hey folks, i know a lot of you have an Xbox 360 and a computer, i also know the Xbox can work as a media gateway extender and im trying to hook it up but it is not working. i hear norton antivirus can busy our ports that the xbox needs to interface with the pc. anyone know about this?

I have no problems whatsoever. I actually stream DVD's that I have ripped onto my computer through my xbox360 onto my big screen. You do have Windows with Media Center right ?

The easiest way to do it now is to have Windows Media player 11 I think it is. Before the new media player came out you had to download windows connect and that never worked for me. Update your media player to the latest and you should be able to stream music, videos, and pictures easily from your computer to your xbox.

First hook the xbox 360 directly up to the computer with out using your router. This should eliminate some things. There are many things it could be. Update the firmware on your router. Check to make sure UPNP is enabled on your router. Try disabling the firewalls. Also on your router set the multicast filtering to enable. On Vista look in Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Event Viewer section and see if there are any error messages. This might help me a bit.

Well, i gotta go wireless becasuse of where xbox vs computer are.
I have Windows XP Media Center, i went though all the setup process and all that junk, the PC sees the damn xbox and the xbox sees the damn PC, but every time i try to access the pc it tries to connect and fails, stating that another user or application disconnected the device.

this is a pain in the ****ing ass.

you would think that an XBOX my microsoft would integrate seamlessly with a PC without the need for enabling ports, ****ing with the firewall, and doing this that and the other.

If you give the Xbox number a call, they are pretty good at walking you through and helping you out. You gotta also make sure the xbox is enabled for sharing on your computer. I don't have Media Center so i'm not sure how that all works out. Sorry I couldnt help you more. You would think it should work seamlessly

I tried using Media Center's extender setup like it said on xbox live and did not have much luck. I tried it with Media Player 11 and it sees the xbox and is set up to share to it. Howeverm, still, something is blocking the Xbox. I talked to a guy i work with and he advises to shut off Norton Antivirus and try it again, he said he had the same issue with his iTunes and once he shut it off it worked again.

ugh. i suck at computers.

Thats weird though cause I run Norton and have no problems with iTunes or connecting 360 to the computer. Did you add the music or pictures and stuff to the shared library or whatever on the media player?

3. Double-click Interactive logon: Message text for users attempting to log on, clear any text for this entry, and then click OK.
4. Double-click Interactive logon: Message title for users attempting to log on, clear any text for this entry, and then click OK.
5. On the File menu, click Exit to exit the Group Policy snap-in.

Method
1. Click Start, click Run, type nusrmgr.cpl, and then click OK.
2. Click Change the way users log on or off.
3. Make sure that the Use Fast User Switching box is selected.
4. Click Apply Options.

make sure after you install Media Center you Intall the extender. If you restart your computer with MediaCenter it will tell you that it detects a 360...I uploaded all my pix and movies so I can show them on the 360 it's a bad as design but kinda slow...
