LOL

Nah, I have a modest system....and after listening to a lot of stuff in my dealers stores (I am a rep for this stuff). AND sitting through a demo of a pair of 80k speakers..I think my system is great..some might laugh...but I love it.

I have a Sherwood Newcastle R-871 http://www.sherwoodamerica.com/prod_r871.html with OLD Aura speakers all around.

Its a killer setup...you really got to hear it to believe it.

lol, sherwood is some great stuff, they really have carved a little market out for themselves. Sherwood and Outlaw both came out and really suprised people with the quality of thier stuff. The only problem with them is they are small and thier name is not well known, so a lot of people would pass up on some real good equipment. I have never heared them personally, but all the reviews are real good and there was quite a buzz about them several years back, they really made a name in the whole audiophile community.

Nothing wrong with Aura speakers, if i remember right they were all built using the golden box ratio with solid building practices. Speakers are one thing that have really gone downhill in the past 30 years. Anything that was pretty good 20 years ago is just as good today.

I had a Shewood EQ in my car back in the early 90s lol.

Lesson is folks dont buy new tech unless you have money to burn and like to brag to your friends. Be smart and wait to see what the mainstream is going to adapt.

[QUOTE=00blkstanggt;253227]I wonder if jjtgiants knew he was gonna get this big of a discussion from such a simple question.QUOTE]

ha ha....I figured there would be a few responses since it's not quite clear yet. I guess I'm waiting to figure out which one is taking off cause I want a new gaming system and I've always been a Playstation guy, but I'm really really leaning towards xbox 360, but if Blue Ray is going to be the next big thing then it might be worth going with PS3.

I guess time will tell.

00blkstanggt 03-22-2007 10:11 AM

For me, when it came down to choosing a gaming system, it was all about which games and features. In a way Sony did it right, by including Blu-Ray into PS3, but what about the people who dont care about that. They gotta fork over the additional $200 or so to have it and not use it. At least with Xbox you have a choice. I mostly like first/third person shooters and nobody beats Xbox in that category except the PC. Forza 2 is gonna kick ass and is way cooler than Gran Turismo. Gran Turismo is so realistic, yet you can't do donuts or drift? So far every game thats on both Xbox 360 and PS3 have gotten better reviews on the 360. Some pretty big games that were only exclusive to Sony are now producing for 360. Just kinda shows you that Sony is loosing steam. Xbox live kicks ass too. Downloading some of the old games is pretty tight. Just last night I was playing a little old school Mortal Kombat, the old 89 arcade Ninja Turtles, and some Contra. I say figure out which games you like and see what system is best for that.

venom 03-22-2007 02:35 PM

Dont get a console because of format, get it for the games. Sony is going to lower the price of the PS3 $100 sometime this year. Id rather get a Wii and 360 then a PS3 and so do many others so it was only time before they did lower it. Since I like FPS I got the original xbox and now a 360. As of today I have yet to own a PS2 and I have not missed much as PS2 is lacking in FPS.

00blkstanggt 03-22-2007 02:54 PM

FPS FTW!

Gear of war, Rainbow Six Vegas, GRAW 2, Forza 2 > anything Sony will come up with

venom 03-22-2007 03:03 PM

I am looking forward for Killzone2 to come out for the PS3 to see if the video they showed at E3 was actual ingame footage. I want to see how dishonest Sony is. Remember Killzone was suppose to be a Halo killer but what happened to that LOL.

00blkstanggt 03-22-2007 03:59 PM

Thats Sony's problem. They always show this great footage and say its in-game, but it never really is. Halo is already well established and I don't think there is much that will "kill" it. Although I think Gears of War is 10 times better. I was never a Halo fan. I like more of the realistic weapons/strategic FPS I guess. Halo 3 though is gonna sell a ridiculous amount though.

Actually Blu-Ray has been out about as long as HD-DVD. They both came out around middle of last year if I'm not mistaken.

ha ha....your to young to know what a VHS is. your the DVD era. ha ha

Chris 03-23-2007 09:17 AM

the problem with HD-DVD (not sure if Blu Ray is the same or not) is the players are built off of a windows based system. So the early ones crashed all the time. They might have changed something, but last I heard was that the players would crash.

both BluRay and HD-DVD have their pros and cons.....I wouldn't go with either LOL

It was announced and being created back then, same with HD-DVD, but nothing was released to the public until last year. They started off having problems with Blu-Ray because the laser kept getting screwed up. Also, once again, Sony claimed Blu-Ray would have x amount of capacity on the disc, but it failed to actually have those figures.
