spike_africa 05-12-2005 07:52 PM

That sad? come on how bad could it be. i mean hell i seen people 14's in 03 cobras now thats sad.

MattJ 05-12-2005 08:09 PM

Does your track prep the lanes? With bad times im figuring you didnt catch traction, which is most peoples problem.
I dunno about you but i went the day after opening day which was a saturday, and first gear was rendered useless. I could try and hook and spin, let off, and get back on, and spin again. It is something that takes practice and the streets are completely different compared to the track in my experience.

So what were the times...

Blue03gt 05-12-2005 09:13 PM

no times?

we want times! :evil5:

dannyb785 05-13-2005 08:06 AM

mmm let me see......i'll give you credit for posting your times!!!
lookslike you did a lot of thinking at the tree...3rd amber means GOOOOO!!
practice practice practice....we all start somewhere!!! a good hole shot makes your day, don't worry about the car next to you. Look at the tree, power shift, and hit all gears.

how many gears did you go through?

NoKturnaL 05-13-2005 09:56 AM

U can do better with the 60' times. What are your mods? Looks like u aint gettin no traction at launch...

TayWolf55 05-13-2005 10:00 AM

Drop your 60 foot times to 2.2 or 2.1 or maybe even a 2.0 and you will see low 14s high 13s.

By the looks of that 60 foot you are just dumbing the clutch and spinning.

gtnumber2 05-13-2005 10:37 AM

practice your launch

spike_africa 05-13-2005 11:55 AM

dont shift into 4th gear. also shift at 5,500rpms unless you have cams or a blower dont go past 5,500 its just a waste and you will go slower. and you need ot learn to get it out of the hole a 3k slip will do the trick, that or get slicks and dump the clutch thats easyer to do then learning to drive.

dannyb785 05-13-2005 12:20 PM

easier to do then learning to drive.
lol. ok guys i appreciate the response..

my first run i dropped at 2k and spun like crazy
2nd run i dropped at 1500 and that was my 14.9
3rd run i kinda bogged it so there was no wheelspin and therefore got my worst run.

What im thinkin is bc 2 days ago, i got brand new bf goodrich g-force 275's and they were fuilly aired up so maybe if i let the air out some more? but to what pressure? And with all the tension/pressure of people looking at me i freak and drop the clutch so I definitely need to learn to launch.

Here's what I did to prep each run:
a/c off
tc off
windows up
nothing in car(no added weight)
and im 145 lbs
so basically weight isnt an issue for me.

ill probably go next week or the week after again. does anyone live near bradenton(in florida) that I could meet up with to go again? Ill also bring a camera next time I go and record my runs and then post them.

dannyb785 05-13-2005 01:26 PM

oh and My gas tank was on less than 1/8 of a tank, and I would let 3rd max and the end of the runw/o shifting to 4th. I will try dhifting at 5 to 5.5 next time bc last night i was shifting right at 5800

Blue03gt 05-13-2005 02:19 PM

your mph shows you have very low 14's with a 2.2 60 ft and 13's with a sub 2.0 60ft

no offense... but u must be either spinning like crazy or you cant drive...shifting slow??? .... 15 sec times are kinda much... but with a 2.6 60ft... anything is possible

practice! thats all u need to know

NoKturnaL 05-13-2005 02:24 PM

get a steeda tri ax....it help me and my slow shifting ways....

Dont feel bad about ya times....when I first started going to the track I also ran low 15's consistantly(mostly stock)

now I am constant low 14's with a few high 13's here n there...I also need more prcatice..

2000 STEEDA 05-13-2005 02:44 PM

Dude, all you need is practice. You just have to learn how to not spin or bog your launch. You will be fine after about 5 trips to the track.

spike_africa 05-13-2005 05:48 PM

yeah dude everyone sucks when you first go. here are some tips that will lower your times.

First off those 275 are wider then the rims so you have to even on the street run lower prssure. my freinds hankook 275 run 33psi they wear nice and even my 275 nittos area bit narrower an di use 35 on the street so something around 32-35 should work well to keep the most tire on the ground and have them wear even. i would use this same psi at the track. maybe 30 flat if you wanted to lower them a bit more but no more or they will cup in the middle.

ok now for the track, with street tires i cant stress thsi enough you need to GO AROUND the water box do not get water on either of your tires, front or back. spin them for a few secs to get debrie off. then stage and rev till 3k on the third yellow slip the clutch out do not drop it and then power shift the 1-2 and 2-3 shift (you do not need a shifter to do this) and leave it in third gear assuming you have stock gears and shift at 5,500rpms 5,800 is to high and puts you out of your power band.

Thats all i can think of right now. hope this helps.
