I'm sure i'm not the only one that feels like this...I CAN'T STAND THESE SS CAMARO'S, Z28's.. and i'm sure they can't stand us, but i haven't had the shot of catching one at a red light, i see them on freeways and still they haven't dumped on me, i hear they run low 13's stock(is this true). I think can take one w/ my mods but haven't had a chance. Whoever goes pass 120 mph out there is crazy, you know damn well it doesn't take 120mph to complete a 1/4 mile unless your fully blown everyday driver.

shed some light on this thread, so i know what to expect when i do face one!!! thanks guys help a brother out!!!!

I dont hate Camaros or Firebirds, they are good cars too. At least its better than a civic.

Stock they run mid 13's.

You'll need a super or turbo to beat one. At least thats what I heard. Stock, they have 310+ Hp, and a little more torque than a GT.

Its gonna take you alot more mods to hang with even a stock LS1, believe me I know were your comming from and its sad.... all the work done to a Stang to keep up with a stock Camaro. One thing Id suggest is some Drag Radials. I got 4.10's, drag radials and a few other mods. With a good lauch I can stay ahead of even modded LS1's until about 60 MPH, then horsepower takes over and Im usually looking at thier tail lights.

damn those LS1's!! haha... but, they sure look pretty..

well, chevy has always had more power than ford, its not a big mystery... 350 cubes compared to a 281? (if setup correctly, each should make roughly 350: 300-350HP, 280: 230-281HP which is a respectabe power/ weight ratio).. so already, we are at a disadvantage. even with basic mods full exhaust, cold air intake, bigger mass+ throttle body, fuel pump+ injectors, chip... you may still be a few ponies shy of 300 RWHP.. but the 99-04 GTs have the most potential with coil on plug technology, the 94-98's never had a chance...

But, thats just my .02 cents.. sometimes, its all in the setup? if you can shave 500lbs off of your car, remove the a/c, smog pump, back seat, and spare tire... maybe add a TKO race tranny with a lighter driveshaft and right rear gears... those 281 ponies might just do it! :glasses1:

I had a 95 Z28,6 speed, with a few mods done to it and it ran high 11's to low 12's. They are pretty fast. And that was on street tires. They are heavier than the Mustangs but have alot of HP. I just cant stand the bodystyle anymore. If they come out with a retro Camaro like Ford did with the Mustang watch out. With a supercharger or a turbo and a few other mods you will eat them alive.

Your mod's will make it a little closer but they run low's 13 stock. The only thing our cars do better is launch, after that they just run you down and blow you away. They trap 105-108 with very few mod's. I can beat some if I hook but with very few mod's they run mid 12's. I have a friend who run's 11.10's n/a with a Firebird that's a daily driver.

yeah i had a friend that had a 98 Z28 that had a few mods here and there, and that thing was FAST!!! we'd take it to a road that was well lit and no onew ever drove on it, and he would smoke the crap out of my 03 GT. It was sad to say the least. I have to say...i give it up to camaros and GTO's tho. they have mad power.
