Might be time for a new car

My 2002 Suburban is close to 90k miles. We have really enjoyed the thing, but it is shit-ass big. Essentially, it has become just a giant purse for my wife to throw her crap in and for me to clean out.

So, I am seriously considering getting rid of it for a New Wrangler Unlimited Sahara....a 4 door. I am really impressed with those things. Much larger on the inside then you would think. Sure, much smaller then a Suburban, but I am getting tired of that big truck. These things have power windows, dorr locks, nav systems, rear airbags etc.... They are just like any SUV.

Anyone own one?

Cheddarbob 03-03-2007 04:58 PM

no no get the SRT8 jeephttp://nouvelles.autonet.ca/FR/Neufs...ure21283-L.jpg

wnracing 03-03-2007 05:08 PM

Dodge Nitro.... :boink:

SpinMedia 03-03-2007 05:17 PM

No way... POWER windows AND door LOCKS? That sounds like one hell of a machine.

SpinMedia 03-03-2007 05:24 PM

Just my little share, go test drive a BMW X3 or if you have the money for it a BMW x5, specially if its for the wifey, I have a BMW and every now and then when I take my car for service they loan me the BMW x3 and BMW's are just such amazing machines. I had a 2006 Expedition with allt he goodies and the expedition was complete crap compared to the BMW. The expedition passed 70+ MPHH shakes sometimes, you feel bumps on the road, all plastic, etc etc. The BMW you need to constantly be looking at your speedo because if you dont you'll be hitting 100+ without noticing it, you dont feel the road, its just sooo smooth, all the little buttons and gadgets on it, The keyless start button is awesome. Im telling you, you have nothing to lose just test drive one.

Cheddarbob 03-03-2007 05:32 PM

bmws also get nice mpg 325 get 45-50 if you go 65

WaterDR 03-03-2007 06:00 PM

While I appreciate the comments, BMW's are not for me. While any bank on the planet will loan me what I need for a 50k car, I really have no intention to spend that much money on one.

Now, I have respect for them,...don't get me wrong, they are good cars. Just way more then I need.

A Wrangler should not even be mentiond in the same sentance as BMW. Neither one deserves the other as they are both so different.

This is very strange for Wrangler...it;s a Jeep thing.

SnTBakosFinest 03-04-2007 01:08 AM

Never owned one of the jeeps..but I have ridden in one..my cousin bought one.. its fairly nice..

Also..even though its a jap car..the Mitsubishi Outlander is suprisingly nice..

WaterDR 03-04-2007 05:49 AM

But you can't take the top and the doors off an Outlander or any BMW that I know of.

isn't that funny, Chrysler has to take styling ques from Ford to get a decent looking vehicle.

wranglers are rattle traps, and they ride like shit. I'm not a fan of DC as a whole, but I don't think an adult would be too happy w/ any version of the wrangler. I think they cater more towards the 20 something. with that said, I don't know how far they went to redesign the suspension/interior... I do however like the nitro's.

SRT-8 was out way before the GT500

Just what I was thinking.

SnTBakosFinest 03-04-2007 11:44 AM

Lol water, thats true. You can't pop the top off... go for a jeep man..they run really strong for a long time... the wrangler my other cousin had ran till it hit like 130k miles..I think it would've kept going but it made frequent out of state trips into harsh weather.. =p

doesn't matter, looks like a 99 up cobra.

CompOrngGT 03-04-2007 01:38 PM

something to consider; my fiance has been oogling the ford egde commercials, so we stopped today to look at one while they were closed. she's deffinately going to get one when her silverado lease is up. those things are even better lookin in person than the commercial. I think they're on the 500 platform, which is volvo IIRC... stickers were between 28 and 32.

The Edge is an uglier version of the Mazda CX-7.

Not true. Eveyone I know that owns one is either in their 20's or 50's. It is generally a young person car or an empty nester. But, now that they have 4 doors I think you will see a wider appeal.

venom 03-04-2007 05:00 PM

Funny thing Im also looking to upgrade my Durango for something smaller. The reasons we got an SUV are no longer valid so a CUV or 4 door Sedan is what Im looking into. I took a test drive on the 2007 G35 sedan and its one nice ride. If you are going to get a Domestic I would recommend getting used as US cars depreciate so much.

00mustang_crazy00 03-04-2007 05:17 PM

actually the edge is a ford cx-9 not cx-7. third row seats and engine proves that.

95STANG 03-04-2007 05:51 PM

Chrysler 300 series is the way to go.

They are all pretty much the same. One just is a tad longer and has an extra seat.

Im not even sure if you are joking or just being retarded :) but there is no way in hell a 3 series is getting 50mpg. The most fuel efficient model is 21 city 30 highway. Not even close what youre talking about.

Well, honestly I hadn't done any research on it other than reading the sticker. I figured it was Mazda at first, until I saw the 3.5 in an AWD platform, I thought of the 500...

As far as the ugly comment, that's your opinion. Just like I think 99% of sn95's are ugly. :argue: :nunu:

:D

venom 03-05-2007 07:12 PM

Looks like Im going to open up a thread as Im in the market as well.

well it was kinda a joke but those new 3.18 the friggin small engines can produce 40 at 65. and we get 30 mpg @ 80 mph with a 325i

Ok I guess, but the 318 hasnt been made in nearly 10 years. Btw according to what it was rated the 1998 318 sedan gets 23 city 32 hwy with a manual.

If you didnt know the EPA mileage for highway is still tested at 55mph, so I highly doubt it would get 40-50 going 65. Jmo though.

I am not trying to say the 3 series arent bad ass cars because they are but they are not so much better than anything else on the road. Hell I would take a new G35 sedan over a new 3 series, especially for the $$ you save.
