Bcs Champions The Florida Gators!!!!

Florida played this game beautifuly. I will admit I nearly s*** myself on that kick off but. All of you guys that thought Ohio was going to win underestimated the Gators and look what happend. Ohio put up a fight but nobody had more heart than Florida tonight they wanted it more. Towards the end there was no way in stopping them.

And for those who talked smack before...dont be hatin...we tried to tell you.:breakdancesmilie:

Also Gators made history for hold the Basketball and Football Championships at the same time. Great way to end a night.:Woot:

SnTBakosFinest 01-08-2007 08:58 PM

Yea I'll honestly say it...I thought Ohio would walk all over the Gators... ;x

LoL... Believe me theres guna be alota fights here in Tally, already almost ****ed up some douche bag last night...

The worst thing about gators fans is they won't listen to reason. They don't even know their own teams facts and they still stand around cocky as shit...

This is by far the worst year ever, just means the win next year will be even sweeter...

whitethunder46 01-09-2007 11:47 AM

I'm dumbfounded. I couldn't bring myself to read this thread until now, 18 hours later.

I can't say much, Florida dominated, yes, dominated. Defense was outstanding and damn, if Leak wasn't playing like the Heisman winner. Their offense was ridiculously hard to defend with the constant constant different looks the showed.

I will say this, I really do think the 51 day lay off for OSU hurt them a decent amount. Still no excuse, but still.

Icefreezen 01-09-2007 11:53 AM

It was anyones game going into the championship just Florida was well prepared for it. Urban Meyer definitely knows a thing or two. Florida's plays were different everytime. They opened up the book and put it to good use.

whitethunder46 01-09-2007 11:55 AM

Did you know in the beginning of the season, that Meyer and Tressel met and went over each others playbooks? They were getting ready for the seasons and never thought they would play each other in the Nat'l Champ game. True Story.

I also thought it was amazing that this was their first ever meeting in over 100 years of football for both schools.

Gotta love those games for the record books.

What a blow out! I can't figure out if Florida is that good or Ohio State wasn't that good. I think it's somewhere in the middle. Troy Smith looked like a boy playing with men! Florida was just too fast for them.

Troy Smith probably dropped big time in the NFL draft after that crap performance.

Then Brady Quinn would too according to your analogy. It's not gonna have an affect.

Troy Smith isnt' going to be drafted that high imo anyways.

95STANG 01-09-2007 02:49 PM

All big ten teams played like trash. I think out of the 5 big ten teams that had bowl games only Wisconsin won?? I think......

B-rett 01-09-2007 03:30 PM

that has to be sumwhat due to the fact the big ten has roughly 50 days between games if they go 2 a meaningful bowl

Your exactly right about Brady Quinn.....He is WAY overrated and if my memory is correct he didn't win too many big games, if any at all for the Irish. I know he didn't beat USC in his entire career at Notre Dame.....god I hope the Raiders don't draft him because it will be a waste. Maybe he'll prove me wrong at the next level, but as of right now he's overrated in my book.....which really means nothing, but but hey it's the interweb! ha ha

As for having 50 days between games......that's just retarded and they need to fix that. It's not fair to the kids to make them wait that long. I do think it affected this game because Ohio State looked exhausted while Florida was running circles around them. I think even at one point Ohio St. put in their 2nd string D-line. That is because they were out of "game shape".....It's hard to be in "game shape" with 50 days between games. Practice and games are two different things and Ohio St. was dragging ass in the conditioning department

The Big 10 was 2-1 against the SEC and 0-4 against everyone else :)

The Big 10 was not stellar that is for sure but played most games tough, except for Ohio State, Purdue, and Michigan.

6-7 Iowa only lost by 2 to #19 Texas who was 10-3

Minnesota (6-7) lost by 3 in OT to Texas Tech (8-5) after being up by 24 points in the 3rd Quarter.

Wisconsin (12-1) beat Arkansas (10-4)

unrakned Penn State (9-4) beat #17 Tennessee (9-4)

The blowouts -

Purdue (8-6) didnt show up and lost to Maryland (9-5) by a ton.

Obvioulsy Ohio State and Michigan got shit canned.

The only suprises where how bad OSU and UM lost and that Penn State beat Tennesee and to some that Wisconsin beat Arkansas.

While I agree with you that there is way too much of a gap, it was OBVIOUS to anyone that on that day Florida wanted it more, was more physical, was faster, was meaner, and was just flat out better. Having a layoff should not be and is not an excuse to get embarassed like that.

Icefreezen 01-10-2007 03:16 AM

I call this 50 day wait nothing but excuses. There was so much to do in that time by studying games, working new plays, and training.

In my opinion Ohio got sloppy and overconfident in their ability and it came back and bit them in the a** they have no one to blame but themselves.

Exactly!

They knew before the season what kind of a layoff they would have if they were to make it too the Championship game.Hmmmmmmm maybe change your schedule and not play all your games early in the season.

jjtgiants 01-10-2007 09:18 AM

They just can't change their schedule.....College teams don't schedule games on a year to year basis, they do it in blocks of 3 or 4 years, but they should think about that the next block of scheduling they do.

I wasn't be any means using the 50 days off as an excuse for Ohio State....I was simply saying that 50 days between games is way too long and college footbal needs to change it.

Anyway, Ohio St. wasn't in "game" shape and it showed. That's the fault of the coaching staff, and they got destroyed.

exactly the big ten has traditionally always ended early but that was because of huge snow storms and no way to clear the fields and roads quickly and then they would have 2 cancel games.......this has lead 2 many big ten teams losing bowls games from being out of playing shape, no matter how hard you practice its never as hard as you go in a game.....these days they can clear a field and roads in a very short time..........its time for a change with there schedule

Icefreezen 01-10-2007 10:29 AM

All i'm hearing is excuses. How bout this one. Troy Smith and his team ate one too many Cheeseburgers and thats why they lost. And not being in "game" shape isnt a excuse either for those on sports teams coaches always tell you to practice hard if you dont your just cheating yourself.

Dude, I agree and I'm not making excuses for them, I'm not a fan of Ohio State.....all I'm saying is that no-matter how much or how hard you practice it's still different than playing a real game. When you practice against the same kids for 50 days you learn their weaknesses and speed so you get in a rut, but if your playing a real game every week you see different things and it makes you better.

Not sure if this is a good comparison, but I played college baseball and if all we did for 50 days was take batting practice with straight 70mph fastballs thrown by the coaches we'd be in serious trouble at game time because it's totally different. That's one of the reasons why MLB has spring training, one of the reasons why the NBA & NFL has pre-season. Of course those games are to also eveluate talent, but it's also to get in game shape. So That's what I mean by "game shape", not that they didn't run enough sprints or had too many burgers.

Anyway, I'm not making excuses for any team. I'm arguing against the NCAA having a 50 day period before games.

04DarkShadowGT 01-10-2007 06:19 PM

So basically what we are all saying is we need a playoff of the top 8 teams.

I don't know if that's the answer, but something needs to be done about having 50 days off before a game. I think the NFL has two weeks or so between playoffs and super bowl....that's just right.
