Test drove 03 Cobra
 

Well I've been looking for a while for a 03-04 Cobra around my area and found one at a dealership this weekend. So, it's an 03 with a ton of miles, 73,000 to be exact. What a piece of s##t. The shifter was so tight I could barely get it to change gears. It rattled and had the loosest feeling suspension on a Mustang that I've ever driven. The throw out bearing was rattling, the 6 disc CD had been changed for a piece of crap Pioneer, the boost gauge wasn't working. Asked about the recall for the cylinder head on pre June models. They called Ford dealer and they said there was none. I've heard there was one. Anyway's, whoever had the car should have their ass kicked for letting it get that bad. It sucks to finally find one close and it ends up like this. They are asking $22,500 for it. Guess I'll keep looking.:godamnit:

there is a guy who works in my building with a 99 cobra. it is always filthy, it is scratched up, the interior is trashed all ripped and stained. I mean.. the 99 cobra's were nothing to scream about, they are no terminators, but come on... its a cobra.... bastard.

Its like when you see that real nice sweet hot blonde girl who never hurts anybody and is always a pleasure to talk to..... with the broke-ass unemployed jackass of a boyfriend who treats her like crap and is always borrowing money off her and cheating on her.

my buddy was looking FOEVER around here for one, after a few months he just said **** it and got one on ebay.

I look at this place almost daily. There are usually some damn good deals on Cobras, and most of them are still basically brand new.

theres a cobra on there for 24k with 18k miles, real close to me. no mods but an intake.

not to poke at anyone with a stick... but if you buy something then isn't it your right to destroy it in whatever way makes you feel happy? Who cares if someone else's car is dirty or the interior destroyed, or if they slapped a crappy stereo in it and ran up miles.... just don't buy that car.

I don't know about all you chaps but my car is frequently quite dirty and it has a few scratches and a couple door dings and it has lots of NVH issues (thanks to the race grade suspension) and the exhaust is unelegant looking and there's always 15-20 plastic mineral water bottles in various states of near emptiness on the floor and at least a couple or so crumpled jumbo jack wrappers... I don't care if it's dirty. It's mine and it's mine to screw up however I want.

I can't see spending $35,000 on a Cobra and just drive it and let it fall apart. There's way cheaper cars out there to do that to. I work too hard for my money to watch it rot away with my car.

I don't know... around here the cost of living is so high that salaries are up in orbit and that makes high end cars not so much of a big deal. Lots of seem people see it as a 450 dollar montly payment that they'll make till they die and so they go and buy a nasty expensive car, thrash on it and trade it in on something less exciting in 3 years.

besides... a $35K car isn't that expensive. The average price of the cars in my parking lot at work is over 40K and then they all go out and slap 10K in wheels and tires on them... like money is friggen water or something.

Still to my point, and not necessarily arguing against yours: It's their money to piss away however they want. If you wanted to you could go spend 10 million bucks on a 1 of a kind stamp and then use it to mail a letter... it's your 10 million to piss into the wind, who are we to say it's anything but your prerogative. I'm simply saying that we have no place telling other people how to treat their belongings... only a place to appreciate those that we ourselves aspire to posessing.

You got remember I live in South Carolina. $35,000 is pretty expensive around here. If you look in the parking lot of the saw mill I work at you'd see a bunch of $1000 cars with plastic WalMart hubcaps.

I live about 10 miles west of R3dn3ck so I know exactly what he's talking about.....hey what's another $40-50k car when the AVERAGE price of a home where we live runs around $675k

It makes me mad when I see people trash nice cars because I treat mine like my second girlfriend, and I think that's probably how most of us see it..... but like R3dn3ck said.... it's there car so they can trash it if they want. I test drove a mach back before I bought mine that was just trashed....the chin spoiler was jacked up, there were scratches all over it and the interior was cracked...ect...so I didn't buy it and moved on.

keep looking, i looked for 6 months for a fox, and sold my jeep to buy the one i have now. and its perfect for me. its an 87 so its 19 years old, its got some issues and problems, but its also got some bolt ons. i got it for a hell of a good price. i got it 3 days before college move in and it sat a week and fired up.

moral of the story: hold out and youll find the perfect car, but dont be shy to pull the trigger when it comes.

I hate to say it but where I'm from, that can be topped. My house 10 years ago was $600k, now it's just about a million. On top of that, I know people who own Porchees (I'm horrible w/ spelling) and drive them everyday to work, have 3-4 cars on average, and kids that in one year, went through 3 BRAND NEW CARS (BMW, GTO, Mustang, and now an Audi)!
I'm w/ r3dn3ck though, I always have paper, water bottles, grime, and I'll drive it when the streets are covered w/ snow (though I do cringe when I'm behind a salt truck).
