digital cameras

i am taking a photo class in school so i need a Digital SLR camera. what are you guys using. price isnt really a concern cause theyre pretty expensive as it is. my step bro has the Nikon D50 and it takes decent pics (the pics w/ my car at the lake was using that camera) but the build quality feels cheap. what do you hardcore photo guys use?

Canon Rebel XTi FTW.

Canon digital rebel xt or their new xti is nice.

If you want something a little more bulky / heavier but can withstand a little more abuse... the 20d or the 30d with the bigger screen are a really good option.

My girlfriend's mom is a professional photograher.... I own the digital rebel xt, she owns one as well, and also a 20d and 30d. I've also used a canon 1d mark II which absolutely rocked my socks off.

If I had money to spend.. like 3k I would totally have a Canon 5D right now. But I don't have any money so I have a Rebel XT. Those are nice cameras. The new XTi is pretty pimp too, it's got the big LCD which shows your apature and shutter speeds and is 10.2 MP. The 20D's are also super cheap right now, probably the cheapest they've ever been.. I think $999.99 is the price at Best Buy when maybe 2-3 months ago they were 1299.99. If I could do it all over again I would shoot for the 30D.

But the XT is the less expensive and it's still a great camera, especially for beginners.

whaaaaaaaaat

a grand for a camera... hm... i'd buy a car for that price and build a racecar...

or a guitar... lol... oh yah i did that already

a grand is not bad for some cameras.. like I said the one I really want is over 3k. They're definitely worth it though, I've never regreted my decision to buy a DSLR.

Etch a Sketch :tongueout: .

I have the Rebel XT and its a great camera with a few lenses. If you really get into it you can always get something bigger and better however you will not be disappointed by it. One word of advise is to get a fast Mem card. I have a 4gb Sandisk Extreme III and it super quick. After taking 100plus pics my readout still reads 999 pics left to take :Woot:

I have that exact card.. I actually bought it because generally when I shoot I take pics in RAW that are huge files. My old 1GB Sandisk Ultra II only held about 112 pictures.. the new 4GB Extreme III holds about 470-500. But I actually tested it last night and for some damn reason when shooting in burst the Ultra II and save 1 picture more than the Extreme III before it says "busy" /shrugs.
