Honda Civic

As most of you know, I'm in the market for a new car....

I've looked at a lot and researched for months.

Well it boils down to the safest and smartest choice is probably gonna be the new Civic.

Mazda 3 S is sweet... but gas mileage isn't too wonderful and insurance is still kinda high.

Dodge Caliber I still love, but reliability and since Dodge is notorius for bad gas mileage I'm staying away from them.

VW is a little too expensive for my taste.

I really dont wanna a GM car and the Ford focus is not my style.

Didn't like the new Nissan Versa at all....

So, one of my origional choices is the Civic.

I'll def. get a coupe since it comes with some nicer features and it's much sportier looking. Still has a lot of room in the rear seat for being a coupe (just in/out is a pain)

I'll def get the EX (highest model) comes with sunroof, alloy wheels, 4 disc ABS, 7 speaker with subwoofer 6cd changer 350watt sound system, lip spoiler, chrome exhaust tip, and then I'll get fog lights as an option.

Rated at 30/40mpg and I know it'll get that if not more... also, well it is a honda so I shouldnt have any problems with it for years. (I'm looking to have this new car for 10 years)

More than likely I'll get their bright red with black interior. I like it, I do have some interest in my car boiling up.

Pontiac G6

I still think you should stay domestic. I really hate any imports.

whitethunder46 09-06-2006 08:48 AM

G6 is a little too much moolah.

However they did come out with the G5. It's a Coupe and it's barely a level before the G6. Nice car, lots of room etc.

madmatt 09-06-2006 09:37 AM

I say go for it. The new civics are nice as hell. Id dd one.

I agree with Ice stay domestic.....Looked at the Cobalt SS?

Yea, I looked at the Cobalt.

I'm a little worried about reliability since they replaced the Cavalier and well... yea, lol.

But mostly to get what I wanted out of the Cobalt, it brings the price a little to high.

20K is the most I'll spend. And the Civic is gonna be right under that, but barely. And again, gas mileage is phenomenal

SpinMedia 09-06-2006 12:28 PM

Domestic Side, I rented a Pontiac G6 GT and that car was just pimp, very fun to drive, had nice power and amazing gas mileage.

Import Side, Nissan Altima. My sister has one and its such a smooth fun car, nice power, great gas milage. I havn't driven the Civic so i cant really say anything about it. But i wouldn't go with the whole 2 door coupe since your looking for more of a family type thing, you will really get annoyed by the mission to get people in and out and specially if you plan on having a baby later.

Sedan wise, I see myself getting an Acura TL sometime in the future after I get my vette.

whitethunder46 09-06-2006 12:35 PM

Well, honestly, if I have a family it will be at LEAST 5 years away. Afterall I'm only a soph. in college. Nissan is a little too much, but I'm somewhat waiting for the new 07 Sentra.

whitethunder46 09-06-2006 02:36 PM

well it's still a chevy and reliability is eh...

and 25 mpg city isnt anything to brag about. There are a TON of cars with that mileage.

Not many rated at 30 city that aren't bottom of the pile or hybrids

TClark22 09-06-2006 02:38 PM

have you looked into a White Mustang GT with a Saleen Kit on it...:topicclosed:

which is the #1 reason why i want it. Plus like I stated, I want the EX so I should all and all have a nice new car.

Badfish 09-06-2006 04:14 PM

why not an 07 rabbit?

Try 56mpg (average) on that TDI. I think it was Car and Driver that did a test on all the *Gas Saver* cars and the TDI won by a mile. Believe it or not a TDI will spank a 1.8T 20V GTI out of the whole.

If you are looking for great gas mileage then I would honestly go with a TDI. I know I'm being biased but a VW will last a long time if properly maintained just like any other car.

Go to your nearest dealership and look at a 4 door TDI Rabbit. I promise you that you won't regret it. I love my VW enough to pay $500 a month insurance...

MattJ 09-06-2006 06:27 PM

contrary to belief, that cobalt SS is a nice ride with very very minimal problems. i havent seen one come in yet with any trouble at all. Its deffiently a step up from the other cobalts and its decently quick too.

If you go on that neon forum with the cobalt guys, they even say they can spank all cobras. lol

Blk02stang 09-06-2006 06:47 PM

WhiteThunder46, go get the Si, thats the top of the line model....not the EX. They are pretty much the same, but the Si has a little more power, better looks and still the same gas milage with a sporty look. Another one to check into is the Scion TC...$15k new. My buddy has one as a shop loner car and it's great on gas!

macs03GT 09-06-2006 06:49 PM

civics got car of the year. I sell cars for acura and we have a honda dealership that we own also and that car can not be found. The next 3 shipments are gone!!!!! Civics are great on gas and if you ask me they don't look half bad. If i was going for a more reliable car i would def get a civic. But my next car will prob be a TL since i sell them or a 2500 HD

whitethunder46 09-07-2006 11:47 AM

Ok... 20K is TOP budget.

SI is nice but believe it or not, i kinda want an automatic. They only come in manuals and they DO NOT get the same as the regular civics on gas mileage. I believe they're 24 or 25 city mpg not 30. Also too much money.

I hate hatchbacks, hence the rabbit. Not to mention, i think the rabbit is gay and not sporty at all.
Also the TDI's with VW are too much money.

I've looked at the Scion a decent amount, but even being owned by Toyota it's had reliability issues already in Scion's short life. Also, 25 mpg city again aint the best.

And with the Cobalt SS, by the time I priced it with my options it was almost identical to the Civic EX. Personally I like the styling of the Civic better than the Cobalt, although it is definatelly nice.

Again, I want reliability that i KNOW it will have and a GREAT gas mileage. Honda Civic EX is still my #1 choice.

Keep trying to convince me, but let's face it, Honda Civic is the only car that's been rated best buy by just about alllll magazines. Mazda 3 was another.

Codiddy 09-07-2006 12:50 PM

get a mazda then. forget a civic. A guy i work with has a mazda and he loves it.

theponyfactor 09-07-2006 01:47 PM

cobalt IMO

whitethunder46 09-08-2006 02:29 PM

Well, I'm almost certaintly getting a Civic now.

Just released are the 07's.

Not much changed in the coupe, except now you can get the Coupe SI ground effects (which are nice) and they added a black interior to many of the colors. Now I can get black paint with black interior, the 06's had ivory interior which was just hideous.

The sedan changed a little more. Now it upgraded to the same sound system as the coupe EX. 350 watt 7 speaker with 8" sub. 06 was 160 watt 6 speaker. Also chrome exhaust tip as an accesory (same as coupe).
Again, changed interior colors so now you can get gray and black instead of ivory.

The main reason I wanted a coupe, was because I could get red with black interior. no other colors came with black interior and no colors at all came with black interior for sedans.

So I plan on getting the 07 Sedan, also now I won't have to worry about room in the back seat. Plan on getting Black with gray interior with chrome exhaust tip and wing spoiler. I'll smoke out the taillights to give it a nice stealhty and sportier look, then I'll just enjoy my new car and great gas mileage!!:breakdancesmilie:
