Found a Ricer story i wrote a couple years ago for english.

Racing Life

Hey my name is Mike; all my friends call me Klutch. I participate in the wonderful world of street underground street racing in Chicago. Now, for those of you who don’t know what underground street racing is, it’s a lifestyle of working on your car during the day and testing the limits of your car during the night by pressing the gas to the floor and outperforming other cars, weaving in and out of traffic, and hitting the nitrous giving you the extra boost to leave your opponents behind…
It all got started one night when I was walking home from a movie, which had lasted longer than I wanted it to, but o’well. As I was crossing the street I heard this roar from down the street. I looked down the street and saw two cars launch like rockets. The cars squealed their tires as they shifted gears. They were coming straight at me, but I was frozen in amazement of these little foreign cars with such power and speed. They made their way down the street, and one of the cars slammed on their brakes locking up their tires. It slid down the road and stopped at my feet nearly hitting me. The car was shut off and the owner opened his door. He stepped out of his car towering about 6’4”, very rugged and rough looking.
“Are you out of your mind?” he yelled.
“Sorry,” I replied, “I should have gotten out of the way but I couldn’t.”
I looked at his car stunned at how awesome it was.
“I’m sorry,” the man said, “I shouldn’t have yelled at you, I was the same way when I saw my first street racing car. Hey I’ll give you a ride home in my car if u want to.”
I nodded, “Sure.”
I got into his car and put on the racing harness he had inside.
“So what’s your name kid?” he asked.
“Mike,” I replied, “You?”
“Lance,” he said.
We took off in a roar down the street. Lance had his sound system cranked up, but you could still hear the air escaping form the blow-of valve.
“So where do you get one of these?” I asked as we pulled up to my house.
“I’ll tell you what. I have a stock Civic back in the garage I’ll let you have, but you have to promise me something,” said Lance.
“What?” I asked.
“When and if you race I get half of the winnings,” he said.
“Okay,” I replied.
Lance gave me a slip of paper telling me the address of his garage.
“Thanks man. I’ll see you tomorrow at noon,” I said.
I went inside and placed the piece of paper on my desk and went to bed. They next day I woke up and set off to find Lance’s garage. I found it and knocked on the door. Lance answered it.
“Hey,” I said.
“Hey come on in I was just shining up the Civic.” I walked in and saw the black 2000 Honda Civic Si sitting there with new after market parts.
“Are these for me?” I asked walking over to the parts.
“No,” Lance said, “they are for her” as he pointed to the Civic.
“So, when do we get started?” I asked.
“Now,” Lance replied.
Lance and I worked on installing the new parts from AEM, DC sports, Greddy, NOS, Eibach, Borla, and Sparco just to name a few. After installing all the parts, I turned the ignition on and heard her roar.
“Tonight at ten o’clock right here,” said Lance, “we’ll see if we can’t get you a couple of races.”
It was already eight, so I decided just to go down to the pizza place and get something to eat when I came back to the garage, Lance had put on a body kit and a wing.
“You have to look good to earn respect,” he said.
He had also set up two races for me for tonight against a couple other newbies. We finished cleaning up and polishing the car and headed out.
We arrived at the first race which was nothing except a stock with a cold-air intake. I let Lance out and pulled up to the starting line. I looked over at the competition and pointed down the street. Lance stood in between the cars with his arms raised. He dropped his arms and we shot off of the starting line shifting gears as my speed increased breaking 100 mph. As I coasted across the finish line, I turned around and headed back up towards Lance as he received the money from the opponent.
“Good job!” he said handing me $200. “How does it feel to win your first race?”
“Great.” I replied. “Where is the next one?”
“Right here,” Lance said. “We’re waiting on him.” We waited about 15 minutes and a 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo pulled up.
“Alright, he’s here. Now he’s got a little bit more power but if you kick in the nitrious you should blow by him.”
“Ok,” I replied.
Both the EVO and I revved our engines up as Lance went through the starting signals. He raised both arms up and dropped them. The EVO shot off as I followed behind closely. I pulled up next to him and looked over and smiled as I hit the nitrous. Everything became a blur and all of a sudden I was flipping end over end. After that everything went black. I woke up in the hospital with two broken legs and a collapsed lung. Lance was there sitting next to me.
“You won dude, two grand,” he said.
“That will be enough to pay for the hospital bills. How’s the car,” I asked.
“She’s a goner but I managed to sell a few parts,” said Lance.
Since then I have never used NOS again and we still has climbed the ladder of the underground.

Kinda tacky and ghetto, but hey it was for freshman english. And i just thought the names were ironic.
