Ebay Scam???

ok, so anyways. I put my xbox and stuff up on ebay to try and sell it quicker and i get this email from a lady today. This email reads as stated:

-Hello Seller,
I saw your item on ebay and i will like to buy it for a resell in my store but i will like to know if the item has a warrant or not.
Thanks and i await your respond.

So I reply back to her that I do indeed have the 2 year extended warranty from Bestbuy that I purchased when I bought the system. She then sends me an email that reads as followed:

-Thanks for the mail, I will like to buy the item from you and am ready to pay the amount of $500 for the item and am making the payment through an E- check via online check....So i believe you will need some explaination on it so that u can know exactly what i am talking about.
About electronic check is the form of payment thatwill be sent to your email address from my company secured server and you will need to get a versa check paper which you can get from a walmart store or office depot near you and then print out the check on it and either take the check to the bank or any cashing point nearest to you for instant cashment.
So if you are okay with my explaination i will need your full name and address so get back to me now so that we can proceed on the payment.

Within 2 seconds I've already got my scam radar on because I've never even heard of this type of payment and it seems like alot of hassle. Another thing that set my radar off was the fact that she states $500 and I'm only asking for $350 shipped.

So what do you guys think? Scam or no?

she wants to pay you more than your asking...scam.

it is a scam.

"I saw your item on ebay and i will like to buy it for a resell in my store but i will like to know if the item has a warrant or not.
Thanks and i await your respond."

That works with anything. It could be a spam bot looking for email addresses, but most likely a genuine scam.

The 500$ is probably something an automated bot looks for, anything under $500, it sends out a generic responce and waits for a responce, it doesent care what it is. The hope is that you are greedy and plan to take the whole 500 of funny money because you thought they misread it.

Unless thier answer is specific about whatever you have as in "I saw your xbox on ebay" i wouldnt trust it. I also would NEVER trust anyone who says they will give you nmore than what it is worth, or ANYTHING that has to do with any overseas transaction.

Its a scam, i work at a bank and here about these everyday, and a ****load of niggiria scams too. Let me explain to you really quick on how they work.

They will send you a check, and you can easily deposit it into your bank account, And checks usually talk about 4-5 days to process, so the day you deposit your check, you will have an extra $500 on your bank account, and since you have that you will ship out the xbox, but in 4-5 days when the bank fully clears the check they will see its a false check, and then they automatically take those $500 back plus more for using the false check plus they will investigate you for how did you get that. So you will not only lose your xbox but more.

My co worker got scammed a while back before he worked for the bank, he was selling a digital camera for $300, and some guy in nigiria offered to buy it for $350.00, my buddy easily said "sure", the guy said that his dad was writting the check or something so that if the check was for a little more then $350, if he could just get the rest and send back over amount money. Well the guy sent him an email saying that he sent it western union, my buddy goes to western union, and when he goes to pick up the check, its a check for $1,100. On top of that the buyer misspelled his name, so he emailed the buyer and told him that he misspelled the name and the buyer told him "why dont you just get a new ID with the different name", automatically knowing that there was something wrong here, my buddy then gave me the check and i showed it to my executive at work and he then explained to me how these people make money from us like this. Because if my buddy would of deposited the check, and then sent him back like $800, not only would of he had lost the camera, but $1,900.00.

So moral of this story is, dont do business to crazy foreign countrys and always just do your transactions through paypal.

I've bought a lot of things on e-bay, and that's not how an e-check works. An e-check will be deposited right in your paypal account, that's how it's worked for me anyway, and a true e-check is very safe. This on the other hand looks like carp (not crap) to me.....
