and not sure if this is a repost, but this thing still freaks me out:

This is easy.

Do NOT loot at it as a whole piece, look at it as individual pieces.

On the first pic, the smaller triangle is on top and the larger triangle is on the bottom.

The Top triangle's slope is about 3 degrees less than the bottom triangle. Being such a small amount of difference it is almost impossible to see with the naked eye.

The top triangle has less of an angle, meaning where the two triangles connect you get a convex apex, meaning, that line that looks straight on the slope is actually BOWED out, it is BENT

these pieces do NOT i repeat do NOT form a traingle when they are all put together.

In the next pic, the small triangle is on the bottom, and the large triangle is on the top, so large triangle has a greater slope than the bottom. So in this case, that long line is CONCAVE, it is NOT SRAIGHT, it BOWES IN at the juncture between the large and small triangle.

So, in the first pic, now look at it as a whole, the "SLOPED SIDE" slightly bows INWARD.

On the second pic, look at it as a whole, the "SLOPED SIDE" slightly bows OUTWARD.

If you put onje over the other you will see that this is the case, the difference in space between the slope equals to be 1x1, which is the size of the missing space.

Its hard to explain, but trust me, First pic, the slope starts at a sharper angle, hits that apex and goes to a lesser angle.

Second pic, the slope starts at a lower angle, and hits the apex to come to a sharper angle.

The difference between the slopes is around 3.301 degrees i think

Lol... dont need math really.
the pic we had was really crappy, but there was a grid, after looking at the big and small triangle and the grid it kinda just made sence.

i hate those puzzzles.

Here ya go.

3 men rent a hotel, they pay 10 bucks each
10x3 = 30.

the hotel manager forgot there was a special, it was 25 bucks a room not 30.
he tells the bellhop to give em thier 5 bucks. Bellhop doesent know how to split 5 bucks 3 ways so he pockets 2 dollars and give them each 1.

So each man paid 10, got 1 dollar back.
10 - 1 = 9
9 x 3 = 27.

bellhop had two dollars.
27 + 2 = 29.

where is the missing dollar?

Crap, now i have to get the cobwebs out of my head.
Not sure if my thinking is correct, but I believe its a mathmatical illusion in a sense that each original man should have paid $8.33333333333333333333333333333...not sure how to explain it in equation form, but the manager has the dollar. God, I hope I'm right lol

Yeah it is just an illusion. There is still $30 in play. Since the manager gave the bellhop $5 to give back to men, the register is correct, $25 (30-5). The bellhop has $0.66 that belongs to each person ($2/3). Of the $25 now paid for the room, each man paid $8.33. The $1 they each received plus the $0.66 the bellhop has equals the original $10 they each paid for the room ($8.33+1+0.66=$10x3=$30).

Thats the first time ive seen it broken down like that.

I just look at it like a magic trick, it trys to get you to look at the situation wrong.

the amount each man paid really no longers matters after the hotel got paid. its a different mathematical situation that was already resolved and to integrate it back in just messes ya up.

Hotel has 25, each man has 1, bellhop has 2, = 30.

i was supprised that i caught on to that the minute i saw it...good puzzle though lol
