Return To Stock? WHY????

Why am I even thinking about it? After all of this time and money, why is the thought in my head of taking everything off my car and returning it to the way it was when I brought it home? WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME? :wallbash:

MattJ 07-26-2006 06:43 PM

Because you were going to give me that supercharger so I can enjoy a low 12 second car.
:devil2:

jjtgiants 07-26-2006 06:44 PM

it's cause you probably don't have anything else you can do to your car and your a little bored?

todd03blown 07-26-2006 06:50 PM

wow Mike....tough question.....I guess maybe you are bored with it? You want to sell it and take that money and build a track car???

No, I owe too much on it to make any money on the sale of the car. The sale of the mods would pay off some debt that the car incurred.:innocent:

Not to mention, I don't think I could sell the car.

Lizardbreath2 07-27-2006 12:32 AM

Dude if you return your car to stock you are going to really hate yourself in the long run. You're going to be like...WTF? MY CAR WAS THIS SLOW???

madmatt 07-27-2006 04:48 AM

Its not so bad. Leave the stuff that makes it a fun daily driver, gears, shifter, exhaust. Other than that, sell it and make a profit :D You could easily make 2500 off the supercharger setup, pay that on the car. Keep or sell the wheels, as you still have the black painted ones, theres another 1k. Its funny how much you can pay off on your car when you start selling the parts off of it. :D Besides, a 4.10, full exhaust car is fun as hell.

Actually, when I say Return To Stock, I mean RETURN TO STOCK. No gears, Exhaust (except for muffs) NoTHing!

madmatt 07-27-2006 04:58 AM

Eh, at LEAST keep the gears. LOL actually, go find someone with an all stock mustang, drive it, and youll be convinced to keep the gears. Besides, selling those would do nothing but make like 75 bucks. Not worth it IMO.

Yeah, but I would put like 2.73's or 3.08's in it so I can get 40 MPG. :poke:

WTF!?! It seems as if everyone is losing the interest in their Stang after making it faster. I don't get it.

OK, maybe I do somewhat. Hell, I'll even admit I want something that is fast but has more space. If I come across a blown Marauder for a good price, I might kiss the stang goodbye! :D

But, I still turn around in parking lots after walking away from my Stang so I must love it.:)

I think its a realization thing. Some people buy a mustang, with intentions of making it, "the fastest damn thing on the planet" and spend exorbant amounts of money. Well, they get about 65% into the project, and realize, holy hell, Ive spent more on mods than the car is worth...and either stop there, or continue on half heartedly. The next thing is when someone builds a 600+ hp car, they expect it to drive and be reliable like their stockish 250 rwhp GT. Not happening. When you build a car, you better be expecting to break, spend a LOT more money on maintanence, and not be able to hook up for crap on the street. You also start thinking, "whats the point of having a fast street car that I dont race, but have 400 hp." Its a financial burden, and its just not fun anymore sometimes. Mike has a race car, he's found his niche in road racing, and doesnt like beating on his baby. My situation was different, I decided to cash in my chips to get rid of the car payment faster, and I havent been happier in quite some time. Its good to know I only owe a few thousand more and it will be all mine. And btw, I still look at my car when Im walking away from it too :D

venom 08-02-2006 05:20 AM

Whats the main reason you feel like this, too loud, something else broke, your broke, did someone rape you on the track or street or do you see a money pit? You should take a break from the fourms and the stang for 2 weeks or more. If you have another car drive that or if a good friend has a car you can swap with. This is a good test to see if you will actually miss it. Depends on how you feel but it may be best to sell parts, car and try to buy a faster stock car that all you would do is very minor mods.

mcmmotorsports 08-02-2006 05:20 AM

Actually, here is something I have realized too....
I have acquired some credit card debt that I didn't want. Some for the Mustang, some for the Civic. Needless to say, I DONT LIKE BEING IN DEBT!
Not to mention the following:

1: I AM UNEMPLOYED
2: I will be using this car as a Daily Driver again.
3: Gas is not $1.49 a gallon for 93 as it was when I installed the S/C.
4: I get into boost only once or twice when I drive the car. I am not using the car to its full potential.
5: I fear the law man and they are everywhere in NC.

I am sure there is more than that, but these are the thoughts going through my itty, bitty mind.

Now, I don't mind the car payment...I can live with that. But, car payment, $4k personal loan (which, BTW, was a debt consolidation loan) and now a $7K credit card balance incurred all within the last 12 months :wallbash:
is just too much for me to handle.
Don't get me wrong, I can make the payments once I start working again, but I don't want to make payments....I WANNA PAY THEM OFF!!
Then, I can start playing with the race car again. :shifty:
