Tire size question help!

I am getting 10.5 inch black bullitts in the rear. What is the cheapest tire size to go with. Cause i am now broke.

Mustang tuning says you can go up to size
315/35/17
on the 10.5inch rear wheels

That seems to be the most expensive. What size do i get? And whats the diff

315's are the optimum size for a 10.5 wheel but you can go down to a 295. I have seen 285's on 10.5 wheels but they look way too small IMO.

If you are really on a budget, get the Kumho Ecsta 712's in a 285/40/17. They run about $116 from Tire Rack in that size. The 285's look like 315's....well sort of.

I use them in that size. They are nice tires for the price.

They may have the 711's in that size too. If so, they will be cheaper.

Mike:

There is no such thing as a 295 in a 17 inch rim. They don't exist. If you can find one, I will pp you $5.00. If not, you owe me $5.00. They make them in 18's but not 17's.

Here are 285's on my 10.5 inch rims.

Thanks for the replies and the pic. Do you happen to have a larger closer up image of the tires you got there?

How much shipping does that website charge

98silvergt 03-29-2005 08:29 PM

nevermind i found shipping costs. Pretty good prices there.

Did you get the Supras or the All seasons?

WaterDR 03-30-2005 04:16 AM

The 712's Supras are summer tires. They have an AX or something like that for All Season.

You can also get 315/35/ZR17 Sumitomo HTRZ at www.tirerack.com for $119. Imo a 285 is too small for a 10.5" wheel. I have the 315 and they fill out the wheel great, but there is room for more tire on the wheel even with 315s.

The extra $3 is worth it for the extra tire. Get the sumitomos.

That sumi is the only street tire available in a 315. It's a nice option. I had the sumt htrII's or whatever they are called, and I did not like them much. I am not sure about this tire.

You got Me, I was mixing my 17 and 18 inch sizes!! But a 295-17 does exist, Kumho makes a 295-40-17 Victoracer in that size, but it isnt exactly a stret tire :blob10:

WaterDR 03-30-2005 07:17 PM

See what I mean. Lots of people think that there is a 295 x 17, but there isn't any except for a few track tires.

madmatt 03-31-2005 05:38 AM

Those tire manufacturers are PIRATES I tell you, grumble grumble grumble, Id be planning on Saleen rims right now if TIRES werent 200 BUCKS A PIECE!!!

Rant off...
Get the 315s if you can for that price, they will look better than the 285's. Just dont know about traction, thats all.

04DarkShadowGT 03-31-2005 06:02 AM

The traction on the sumitomos are great so far. Ive only had them on for a week and half though. But thus far I am 100% satisfied with them, especially for $119. I would buy them again even if they were a little more $$.

98silvergt 03-31-2005 07:23 AM

i think ill get the sumitumo special $119 for the 315s
