rant rant vortech.

Well i just thought i would share what i found out is going bad on my vortech..........well i just looked under the hood about an hour ago and i noticed i have oil splattered on the hood. Well i do some investigating everything is looking good then i notice oil setting on the very inside part where the pulley attaches to the vortech head unit. My first instinct is a seal of cours because superchargers are not made of much...well unfortunetly i have a main seal leaking!!! So now i have to take the head unit off and replace that:wallbash:. Guess ill start making my intercooler piping now...

Did you get the polished one? My boy went through 4 of them on his '04 Tiburon. The seals kept going bad due to the heat from being polished. We didnt know what was going on when we saw a mist shooting out of the by-pass valve when we took it down the street w/ no hood.

why don't you just send the blower off to vortech for a rebuild instead of replacing it?

They should warranty it!!! They did with all 4 we had on my boys car, Jus took it off called them and explained and they said send it back and they would verify the problem. They called back a couple days later and determined the seals were bad from the factory and they replaced it free of charge. But your right those seals you can get at any autoparts store.

I cannot believe they went out 4 times. Well im hoping this will be the only time for me, but who knows. In my garage we have done everything from gears to engine overhauling. So i guess ill just add taking that apart to the list
