Which Desktop Computer???
Alrighty. I would like to get a new desktop computer. It is more of a leisure computer, not so much for gaming, more for just cruisin the net and a work computer.
What brand? I've always had Dell's and have a Dell Inspirion 6000 laptop which I do like. Intel Celeron D or Pentium 4 processor? 256mb or 512mb memory?? I would love to get a flat screen monitor, 15 or 17 inch?? (or 19:shifty: ) I'm not clueless with computers, but don't know what would be best for my situation. |
dont waste your money on 256mgs of ram, i would go for at least a gig and and i dont do any gaming. and of course 19 inch monitor if you can afford it. they're really not that much money if you know where to look though.
my suggestion, go buy a book at a local book store on building computers and build your own. you will save a lot of money and learn a lot in the process. |

You can build a damn nice one for $600 (relatively speaking of course ur not gonna beat a $2000 computer)
Just build your own it's not that hard and if you want I can tell you exactly what parts to order (all on the internet from one or two sites) and you can easily build it I'll walk you through it. I have it down to building a computer in like an hour plus installing software, I build and sell them. Not hard. EDIT: And you don't need to buy a book, building a computer is alot easier than working on a car. I'd rather build a computer than change spark plugs |
Feel free to make a list then of what I could use to do it. I've never really wokred on computers but I'm not illiterate I feel either. The only thing I've done is installed an ethernet card for my parent's Dell and then hooked up wireless for them.

i agree, it's very easy i just suggested a book for someone who has never built a computer before. theres only a couple important rules you need to know like keep yourself grounded etc... other than that its like playing with legos |

i was told that windows cant go faster than 512 megs. i have a HP so mine has 2 256 cards. i was going to add another 512 card but friends say its not worth it.
i got a HP desktop with 17" flat panel and 200 gig harddrive for 700 bucks. the deals are out there. |
my mom just bought a 2000 dollar gateway....gets here tommorrow, it looks REALLY nice

Well for 569 I can get a Dell B110 with 17 inch flat panel monitor, 512 megs, 160GB hard drive, Celeron D Processor 2.53GHz, and XP Home edition.

at least 2.5+ GHz AMD Athlon 64 Processor 100GB+ Hard Drive 512-1GB RAM ATI Radeon Graphics Card Some other stuff but im not going to list cuz im busy doing other stuff....but what i got in my pc is... 200GB Harddrive 1.0GB RAM ATI Radeon Xpress 200 Graphics Card 1 Lightscribe DVD +- Writer/ CD Writer 1 CD-ROM 7 USB Ports AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3700+ This computer that i got now ruffly cost me 950+ dollar bills |
