Going to attempt an all-in-one mustang tutorial. any help is appreciated
Hey guys, I've seen countless mustang newbs asking questions that, to us, seem pretty dumb, but we were all there. I remember not knowing what catback meant and I couldnt explain gears for the life of me. I also didn't know the difference between long tube and shorty headers as well as tire specs, transmission specs, engine specs, etc. I would be more than willing to make a tutorial-type thing that I haven't decided if it should be in flash for shockwave. I'd like it to be interactive so people can choose which area they want help in. But if it'd be a total of 10-15 of minutes explaining everything, I'd rather do a video(much less work than a flash movie).
Here's the rundown of what areas I like DETAILED explanations of: -gears -exhaust(headers to catback) -engine modding explanation -visual modding explanation -suspension explanations(lowering, shocks, struts, etc) -tires info(ideal size, available sizes, best looks, etc)\ -power adders -mustangs available and info on each(v6, Gt, cobra, bullitt, mach 1, saleen, roush, etc) I don't really want installation guides. More just the vital information and FAQ's and things that we hear questions about all the time. I think it'd help out many people. Anyone who'd like to do write-ups, let me know what you'd like to do them for. I personally claim the exhaust section, but if someone has extensive knowledge of any of these areas, let me know. And hopefully once it's made, it could be posted as a sticky. |

I gotta good newb question, straight from the tard sector - what are the advantages of using 5W-30 over 10W-30 or 5W-20 and vice-versa? Also, what is the best grade of gas to use? :offtopic: (maybe)

ok, the oil question is pretty irrelevant, but the fuel use one can very well be included. Since after tunes, people usually need higher octanes. |
But, that is a great idea Dannyb. Someone who is new to mustangs, and domestic cars for that matter, could use all the help he can get.

Also, I need to replace my IAC and have never attempted it before, so a tutorial such as that would be good.

yeah, it's not really for any of us who know pretty much all we need to know about our cars. I just know that a year and a half ago, it woulda been pretty sweet to be able to view different walkthroughs of my car and performance potential and whatnot. |

i wouldnt mind doing a very detailed write up of suspension but i wont have time to do it right now. i've posted hundreds of things about suspension, especially in the past couple weeks.

A general description of a how an internal combustion engine may not be a bad thing to include either. After cruising 4 boards for the last 3 years it's amazed me how little some people know about how they work. Also some EFI explanation would be awesome too if there's someone here that has real good knowledge in that area. That's definitely an area I'd love to know even more than I do now about.
