Lances03SVT 01-22-2006 09:36 AM

Not to mention if you have a manual...you have the take the passenger side header off to change the clutch out....not worth the gain IMO

MattJ 01-22-2006 11:21 AM

It took me and my master tech 7 hours from pulling the car in, to pulling the car out for headers and xpipe. xpipe is a 15 minute swap, so all the time is in the headers.

Not to mention you got shorties

I have the full SLP set up so this is just my experience. I had a shop install it, took them 2 nights and 3 days (obviously didn't work on it the whole time), I did SLP ceramic LT's and catted X. Total install cost was $625it.

I don't know what catback you have, but I got the catted Xpipe for a reason, with the longtubes and non-catted X it will be very very loud and have a kind of popping sound. My cats help it smooth it out a little bit, which I love. Try and find a shop who is a dealer or registered or whatever with SLP, it would only take a phone call from them. I saved almost 300 dollars since they were a dealer for my longtubes and catted shorty x. Also, the longtubes come in a stainless steel and a cermamic coated stainless.

roushrider81 01-22-2006 04:00 PM

300 bucks on what parts???? and how much was your bill total with install and parts?

whitethunder46 01-22-2006 04:13 PM

My bill was $1350 with ceramic longtubes and catted shorty x. This included install from a reputable shop.

First off this is for a 99-04 model, but shouldnt have much of a price difference. From SLP directly it would cost you $1,130 for the Lt's and short cat xpipe. I got these for 900 through the shop, so I correct myself, it was a 230 dollar savings.

roushrider81 01-22-2006 04:57 PM

how do you like your set up??? loud??? tone good? how is the sound difference between l/m 1 and 2's with that whole setup? you think it is much of a dif?

whitethunder46 01-22-2006 05:07 PM

I LOVE my set up. It's my favorite thing about the car. I have the loudmouth II, I feel the Loudmouth 1 would be too much and would cause a popping sound in the exhaust. The loudmouth 2 resonators have some type of material inside the resonator to help with resonation inside the car. With this and the cats at idle it's not crazy popping loud, just a nice smooth idle. But as soon as I get on it the exhaust tone is perfect for me. Here's some clips when I first got my camera, sorry they're not better:

sounds great man!!! second link doesn't work and you should make a video of the car driving down the road!!! but damn that does sound good!

whitethunder46 01-22-2006 05:24 PM

hmmm second link worked for me.

yea, the only recorder i have is my dig camera and it only has a 60 second video recording. It would be somewhat tough to do a drive by, but if it gets warmer I'll try

roushrider81 01-22-2006 05:31 PM

yea now it works... i am pro. going to sell my sled within the next to weeks and have about 3500-4000 to spend on the stang and i am def. getting longtubes and catted x. then def. rims and tires... then pro. hood and lowering springs???

how long was your stang out of commison for when they put the pipes on?

whitethunder46 01-22-2006 05:33 PM

Do you have any pics of your car?

notice the small crack on the hood

This is JUST my opinion, but I think chrome rims would look sweet on your car if you decide to get chrome. I love the look of chrome on that color red, just my $.02 If staying with mustang rims I would say Saleen or the much too common FR500. Got any ideas for a hood or bumpers if you decide to go that route?

roushrider81 01-22-2006 06:03 PM

yea i was def. getting saleen crome if you wern't going to say that which you did and some1 posted a link of a great looking hood with two scoops and i dont remember what thread it was under!

roushrider81 01-22-2006 06:05 PM

haha i found the site

https://www.cervinis.com/product.aspx?car=1&id=1127

the second picture down looks sweet

whitethunder46 01-22-2006 06:12 PM

I'm doing the Mach II Ram Air hood. I think it's a great compliment to my Saleen kit. I personally really like the Heat Extractor hood to your model, but the one you pointed out is nice too. Adds a little personal flare!

roushrider81 01-23-2006 09:50 AM

damn dude i just called up a place and for long tubes catted x h & r lowering springs and install it is 2 grand so i am waiting... getting the catted x pipe first then the rims tires, springs, sychroles fixed, then idk but is there a real sound dif. between exhaust manifold and headers???? and if i bought the regual x pipe does it come into three pieces and then can i take 1 of the pieces off and have a fitting pipe for longtubes?

whitethunder46 01-23-2006 10:39 AM

About your question of the x-pipe. Yes, with SLP it is a modular unit so you can take off the two pieces that would go butt up to your shorty headers and install longtubes. This is also how it works with swapping out cats to race pipes and the resonators or power flo mufflers. SLP is a little more expensive though for this reason. But to me, well worth it. Also everything is stainless steel or cermamic coated (such as the LT's)

roushrider81 01-23-2006 05:42 PM

white thunder i love how this is basically and me and you thread no1 else cares lol but

here is my plan of opperation:

1. Sycorels fixed

2. Rims and tires

3. Lowering springs

4. X pipe

6. hood.

you think 3500 will cover that?

whitethunder46 01-23-2006 05:51 PM

I would say so. I'm still learning more and more everyday and love but I have no clue what sycorels are, would love to know what. Plan on 1500 for rims and a good set of tires, that's what mine are running for and that's for 18", a couple hundred less for 17". Lowering springs, 450 with install. Xpipe, 350 with ur installing (with cats), hood 800 with paint and install from shop, so taht would be around 3000 before the sycorels, granted those are high estimates to be safe.

roushrider81 01-23-2006 05:58 PM

syncroles are like little round things that in your tranny that makes your car shift smooth and when they start to wear out the gears grind going into gear... so if i put it above 4 grand in first they it will grind wiked bad going into second. it is about a grand to fix.

whitethunder46 01-23-2006 06:02 PM

a little over ur limit then

roushrider81 01-23-2006 06:14 PM

well my dad's mechanic will install the x pipe and the lowering springs. so i got that covered... and is there much of a sound difference stock exhaust manifold and long tubes?

whitethunder46 01-23-2006 06:17 PM

Hard for me to say, because I got my x pipe and headers installed at the same time, so I def noticed a difference. But I would think longtubes add even more of a low growl like sound and make it even louder, but a good loud

roushrider81 01-23-2006 06:27 PM

yea i come back and talk inbetween commericals of 24 but front tires for my car are 194 and they are BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2 which are good tires. so i dont think it will all equal that much 650 for rims and 600 for rear tires so damn you were right lol but hey my rents will let me borrow money and all i have to do for paint is have my school do it in their pro. paint shop so everything should be good!

whitethunder46 01-23-2006 06:32 PM

Those tires for 18 or 17 inch rim? I'm probably getting those exact same tires. I'm torn between those and the Toyo R-1.
