Removing Side-View Mirrors

Hey, does anyone know how to remove the sideview mirror, as in the whole stock piece from the body? Thanks

r3dn3ck 01-03-2006 08:25 AM

yes. I know. It's a biatch.

Remove the door panel, remove the mach 460 tweeter, remove the mirror.

It's really easy but troublesome finding out for yourself that the screws that hold the mirror on are behind a speaker that you have to take the door panel off to get reasonable access to.

Oh yeah... don't forget to disconnect the 2 wire clips.

theres a plastic cover... inside the car perpendicular to the mirror... ya pry it off from the top (there is 1 clip that holds it)... then there are 3 nuts that you rmove and walla... the mirror is removed :beerchug:

Are you sure, it took but 3 mins to remove mines on my vert...

took me about 15 minutes per side having never done it before. It was easiest to use my process with the Mach460 tweeters connected to the mirrors. I was at my tuner's shop when I replaced mine and he was the one that told me how to start.

What year is your vert? I have a 03GT coupe...maybe a tad different.

But you did remind me of 1 step I forgot, you can pop off the speaker cover on the tweeters and get in that way. Still have to pull the door panel to get fat hands like mine to the little wire clips.

i have a 94... there are no skeakers in that cover... just the cover... but i dont need to remove the door panels... i dont understand why you did that

cuz I couldn't get to the wires that control my mirror without removing the door panel completely. They're wire tied to other wires where I couldn't get to them, but they had to be removed, thus remove the door panel. I tried removing just the arm rest with all the controls in it but couldn't get my big hands in there far enough to cut the wire ties.

check out the attachment... ya pry off the cover holdin the swithes and you UNPLUG the wires... There is no reason to cut them

Pay attention, they were tied to other wires where I couldn't get to them, but they had to be removed... they had to be removed because the mirrors were broken in half (don't ask) , the wires weren't cut, just the zip ties holding the mirror and speaker wires to other parts of the harness had to be cut. Are you clear on why removing the door panel was required now. Jesus tap dancin' christ dude.. read, comprehend, then respond. Mixing up the order isn't going to help you.

hmm... you coulda cut the wire tie... i'm not quite sure what you're sayin...

but he has the v-6 base model... did his come w/ the mach stereo? i dont think it would as much trouble for him...

With the diagram i attached above removing the door panels is a breeze... well unless, i guess, if your wires are ****ed up....
