Clutch

What would be the best way to change a clutch for a '96 mustang gt? Like, the best way to go about it. Me and a friend are going to do it, he knows his ****...I just want to get it done quick. If anyone can help, thanks.

No such thing as a quick clutch job. Mine took about 5-6 hours and was done by professionals. You are going to have to take off the midpipe and so forth, drain the tranny of fluid, drop the tranny, get the old clutch out, take out and resurface the flywheel, install and line up the new clutch, get the tranny back in, refill the tranny, put midpipe back on.

Thats the cliffs of the operation.

Yea, at least plan for a whole saturday. Get all of your ducks in a row and dont forget to expect SOMETHING to go wrong and hold you up in some way. Also, you have to drop the driveshaft I think? Im going to be doing mine over the winter break, so I have about a month lol, hopefully it wont take THAT long.

you dont need to drain your tranny. wrap a plastic bag tightly around you tail shaft and you sould be good. it took me and a friend 2 hrs to do it. we were lucky, a local shop let us use its lift. make shure the flywheel hasent been resufaced to many times. you run into problems with the ajustability of the clutch. i got a new flywheel because mine has been done twice. good luck.
