headlight knob help

I've posted this question on other sites, sry if it's a repeat for you.

The main question. How the heck do you re-install the factory headlight knob?!?! I took it out by basically just pulling hard, on the stem thingy there is a metal piece that i'm not sure is supposed to stay on the stem or in the headlight knob, any advice would be awesome. I'm dont wana use needle nose pliers the rest of my life to turn on my headlights, haha.

Here's why, so i've torn apart my 2001 GT interior and basically anything that was the plastic trim stuff I took out. I painted everything white to match the exterior. I think it was like 11 pieces? Did it all late last night and this morning, looks AWESOME!! Best personal mod yet. I'll try and get some pics if anyone is really interested.

I super glued mine lol, sounds ghetto but its working great. I just needed a fast fix until I start modding my interior. Mine was really broke though, I pushed that bitch every which way I could and it wouldnt go on.

Just look at the back of the knob and make sure the triangle shape looking thing matches up with the actual light swith thing and push it in there. :) ..I don't know if this makes any sense, but when i pull too hard on mines and comes off, thats what i do to replace it.

yea.. i line up the triangle thing but then the metal piece thats on that stem slides back. ughhh, im about to just order a billet from upr or steeda. I'm doing a whole bunch of billet this winter, so it won't look that out of place, just now at least. lol

you can bend the little tab back a bit and that should hold it but I just threw it away and got a aluminum one
