A dilemma w/ gears...

So guys, my concern with my car is that I'm paying for the full warranty for 6 years and I want to make it useful(in case I need it). Now, if I notice my tranny grinding..all I do is take it in, and they fix it for free bc of my warranty..

now if I got gears...and then noticed grinding(by coincidence, not bc of the gears), would ford see the 4.10's and refuse to fix it for free? Besides the warranty for my rear end, will new gears affect any other part of my warranty?

same question w/ if I got my car chipped...what are the chances that it'd really damage my engine to get chipped? is there any chance at all? And if so, and my engine went out, what would they NOT fix?

The 4.10s would probably violate your drivetrain portion of your warranty.

Chipping your car wont do any damage so long as the tune a good tune and not thrown together by a monkey banging on a keyboard. I wouldnt worry about damage from that happening to your engine. Maybe from an e-bay chip, but not from one of our chips.

just saying though...if the engine was to blow or die bc of something unrelated to the chip...would the dealership see that its chipped and refuse coverage?

It just depends were you take your car to. Some places are assholes and some places are not. My friend had 3.73's on his 01 GT and he messed up his tranny powershifting and such. Took off the short throw shifter and told them the tranny took a dump. Left it there for about 3 days and they gave it back to him with a new tranny! :) ....it just depends...

well most likly they won't check the rear end unless there is something wrong with it

They have no reason to open the differential case unless the problem is in there. They won't look at your ECU unless the problem involves it. If you're a manual, I can't see how either of those things comes into play. Ofcourse if the problem is clutch related, they won't fix it anyway because it's a "wearable" part. Good luck with it anyway. If it's interanal gears or synchros and you've got an aftermarket shifter, that could be a problem as well. Good luck with it.

I dunno, i seriously doubt that when you go to the dealer that they drive the car at 40mph on the gauge while they have another guy with a radar gun verify the speed.......
