Exhaust TOO RASPY ! ! !
My buddy has a 1999 35th Anniversary GT Convt. and he just put on a 2.5 inch BBk X-Pipe.The thing is that it sounds really really raspy and extremely loud. He is running the stock 2.25 inch cat back with magnaflow mufflers. I think the reason it is so raspy is because its going from 2.5 down to 2.25 inch tubing. Maybe i'm right or wrong let me know what you think.

Is it off road or catted? Running cats will bring some of the rasp down. My Bassani catted x is not raspy at all.

it is an off-road BBK X-Pipe. I thought that if he got a 2.5 inch Cat-Back it will be less loud and less raspy.???

do you think that the 2.25 inch cat-back has anything to do with it too or just the non-catted x-pipe?
|
A cat back will only make things louder and flow better. Certain cat backs do cut down on the rasp tho.

thanks for the info man...

No, the reason is the design of the BBK x pipe, not the fact that its 2.5 and 2.25 in exhaust. BBK has been known to be one of the raspiest, but usually with flowmaster mufflers. Tell him to trade it for a upr x pipe or a prochamber.

Just get a catted xpipe or have a muffler shop add the Cats.

forget the cats, it's raspy because it's an x-pipe going into a chambered exhaust. if he changes the cat back to a straight through muffler it will be less raspy. or he can get an h-pipe. i have a upr x pipe with flowmasters which is pretty raspy. im changing the cat-back very soon. another friend of mine has a bbk x pipe with magnaflows and it was raspy then he changed the catback to slp and it's not raspy at all anymore. the size of the pipe doesnt matter and cats will just muffle the sound and rob a little hp.

ya my buddy has 2.25" cat back with magnaflow mufflers. He was thinking of getting an SLP cat-back. Thanks for all the help
