Gear oil

Have to pull the diff cover tomorrow, pretty sure a ring or pinion tooth is chipped and slowly deteriorating:( However, thats not why i made this thread, the reason i made this thread is because i just got back from the part store and realized that the 3 quarts of synthetic Valvoline 80w-90 i just bought is limited slip blend, my question is: Is it reasonable to use limited slip blend in an open diff, or should i head back to the parts store again tomorrow morning? Any help would be much appreciated.:)

i would use what ur owners manuel says. dont forget the friction stableizer.

He has a open rear end so he doesnt need the friction additive. Personally I don't think it can hurt anything but if you wanna be safe get regular. I know royal purple always has the additive in it.

Thanks for the input guys, i went ahead and just used what i had, no issues so far, so it seems like no big deal. I did do a little research and found that pretty much all Synthetic gear oil is limited slip blend, but that basically that means it's just regular 'out of the ground dead dinosaur' oil with friction modifiers already added.
