5.4 Engine Fire
 

So, im looking to buy a 5.4 shortblock that has been in an engine fire, my question is, could the fire have possibly ruined the shortblock, or anything i may need to assemble my motor?

I think it comes down to how bad or hot was the fire? If it was just a little fuel line fire or something like that, then you would be fine. If the vehicle burnt to the ground then I would say No way! General rule of thumb, stay away from burnt parts.

if any aluminum melted then the fire was definitely too hot.

Is 450 sounding to good to be true for the short block alone? I had called and asked some questions, he didn't know much more than it had 69,000 miles on the block and the top half, heads, etc were a loss in the fire?

yeah if it melted the heads... pass

where would you recommend buying the short block?
