Need help choosing a clutch

I just recently had a bad experience with a ram clutch set that i purchased.. I will be getting a new clutch soon, but do not want to run into the same issue as before. I have an 03 gt with all the bolt ons, 3.73 gears, and a 93 octane tune on it. Plans for the future are to add a supercharger, so i want the clutch the be able to handle that as well. Ultimately, i am looking for a clutch that can handle 400-450 hp. Want something that will last, and is still somewhat streetable. Car is daily driven

I'm running the Spec Stage 2 with an aluim. flywheel and Steeda quardant. I have no problems with either one and is very street friendly. No problems with slippage. Very pleased!

cant go wrong with a FRPP King Cobra clutch set.

I've got the same setup and I am extremely happy with it.

CENTERFORCE DUAL FRICTION CLUTCH..FTW

I used to have a SPEC CLUTCH AND IT SUKKED. IT CHATTERED like a mofo. so i quickly replaced it with the Centerforce.

The car sees alot of dragstrip use and my clutch is great.

I am using a STEEDA QUADRANT, STEEDA CLUTCH CABLE ADJUSTER, AND OEM Clucth Cable. And OEM FLywheel

Cant go wrong with that setup with the horsepower craziness.

Mine has never chattered

Unless you feed the car some rpms when in R or in 1st mine chatters. Just have to give it some rpm's and slip it a bit then you can let it all the way out. I have stock gears in the rear end which I think makes it worse then those with 3.73's or higher.

in general chatter is a function of how aggressive the clutch is. If it's a tough clutch and doesn't chatter a bit I'd wonder why, unless it's a kevlar clutch disc (more on that in a sec)

I'd say you don't "need" a damned bit more than a FRPP King Cobra. That said, if you want the BEST driving clutch that I've ever driven, then call up TPS motorsports or pm tpsmotorsports and ask them about their TPS kevlar clutch. It's a little expensive but it's the only clutch I've ever driven that feels totally stock, can't chatter and handles 650hp/tq. I use it.

kevlar discs slip a lot easier under partial engagement than the glorified brake pads that we commonly see. The kevlar compresses a bit as it makes contact with the friction surface so it feels almost squishy for a itty bitty ways, then it gets progressively firmer. Once you learn to drive it you'll find it's the most forgiving of bad technique and overpowering of any clutch disc on the market.

I wouldn't pimp it if I didn't believe in it. You know that. Make up your own mind.

Oh mine is a Spec Stage 2 by the way. I think the Spec stage 1 would of been fine for me and still have almost stock street manners. Kind of wished I had gone stage 1 and not 2. But it doesn't slip one bit on the bottle that is for damn sure.

With SPEC its a hit or miss whether your SPEC clutch CHATTERS in engagement. I did my research AFTER i had the spec installed and then removed about the chatter and ALOT of people complained of chatter, and others didnt.

I'm glad I was one of the lucky ones. Normally, if there's a pile of shit, I will step in it.

Centerforce dual friction, alum. flywheel, and MM adjuster here and no more effort than stock
