General Maintenance.

My car is currently 6 years old and is approaching 36k miles. This summer I will be commuting quite a bit further than usual. I wanted to do some maintenance work so i wont encounter any issues and get stranded.

What would you recommend doing? I haven't really done much except for the fuel filter, changing the oil and the other basics.

Should I replace the belts or at least inspect them to make sure they are not cracked etc? Transmission Flush? Coolant Flush? anything else?

Just check everything for its present condition and use good judgement. I know it gets pretty hot in Tx. so base your maintenece on your driving habits and what your wallet can afford.

If you have never changed the trans fluid and rearend fluid, do that. 36k on the serpentine belt isn't alot but that's where the judement comes in. Clean and coat your battery terminals, even add water to the battery if need be. Top off all fluids, brake, power steering, and antifreeze. Keep tires aired up and Happy Motoring. Oh yea, drive like you got good sence.

Def change your coolant because it's 5 year gold coolant. Severe service intervals on trans and diff are 30k so you might wanna do at least the trans. Also for the belt it's not too many miles but check the condition because 6 years of weathering can do some dry rot.

Coolant flush, brake fluid flush/bleed, transmission and differential fluid change, a/c refrigerant check (Texas, woot).

I was cleaning my battery connections today since they really needed it. In the process of unscrewing the - connection it snapped in half. Had to go to Oriely and get a new connection part. Was able to install it with relative ease.

I guess it decided on it's own that it needed maintenance.
