transmission question
how different is a T-45 tremec out of a 1996 Cobra than a T45 from a 98 GT? i heard some parts on the GT tranny are cast iron, and the same parts are aluminum on the cobra. how different are they? a guy is selling one for 400 bucks out of his car, and i need it to get my car working. i am gonna buy it BTW, i just want to know how different it is. does it have the same gear ratios, 1st - 5th? is it built more durable to handle to increased power from the DOHC motor?

from what info I can gather, other than Tremec's own "in-house" product updates, IE, slight changes from year to year, the T-45 was the same in all mustang variants while in production. The T-45 was built to handle like 350HP as is, so there would be no reason for it to be "built" to be used in 96-98 Cobra's. Sounds like a good deal. Glad to see you are on the path to getting the 'stang fixed.

The rear mount is different, its farther back. If you have to, you can swap the tailshaft housing.
