interesting Transmission behavior

yes, i have yet another problem. couple days ago, i went to go into 4th gear, when i let off the clutch, the gears kicked it out of 4th. i tried again, same thing. i go WTF. throw it in 3rd, hit it to 50, then 5th gear. i go WTF again. i try again later, same thing. gears kicked it out. i force it to catch by holding the shifter in 4th, and a bit of clutchplay, i manage to make it catch into 4th gear.

would the synchronizers going dead cause this trouble?

My first guess would be that the synchros are going. That's a common culprit if you're grinding a lot or popping out of gear.

time to rebuild and beef up my transmission, and a King Cobra clutch.

There is a King Cobra clutch NIB for sale on the local craigslist here for $120 or $150 i think if you want it. I'd pick it up and ship it to you if need be.

Sounds like a bent shift fork or if you have an aftermarket shifter, the stops were adjusted wrong.

I agree. Do you have an aftermarket shifter or a worn out stock shifter?
When was the last time you changed the trans fluid? Might want to try drain it and check it for any pieces/parts. Good Luck

i do have an aftermarket hurst shifter. looking at the stops would probably be beneficial.
