Define Dyno Tune...

When getting a "performance" Dyno Tune...and paying like $399 for it. WHat is involved exaclty? I know that it will increase your cars HP by messing with certain parameters,,,,but is that all it is...just configurinng the computer?????

Yes, thats it. You drive onto the rollers, and they hook some stuff up to your car. The tuner then tweaks certain parameters like a/f ratio, timing, fuel charts, and the like, and then burns them onto a chip which is installed in the car.

Benefits from a dyno tune:

1 - Increased power by making the a/f ideal.

2 - Inproved throttle response.

3 - Proper idle (especially for mods like cams).

4 - Creating ideal timing advance

5 - Raising rev limiter based on results from dyno data.

There are more. The more modified the car, the more benefit you get.

Once your MAF transfer function is properly calibrated, mods will work better with your car also. Your car learns from the factory at low load and low rpm and then applies this to your entire powerband which is bad.
