Intake Space Question -- New Member
 

Hello All

I am a new member a brief report on me and my car:

I live in Levittown, PA and own a 04 Oxford white GT. It did a 13.9 in the 1/4 at ATCO. The only MOD I have is a K&N CAI. Picture of car attached.

I am not mechanical genius but I can do tune-ups, oil changes, and brakes. I just garaged parked the car for now as I bought a Jeep for work and now I can now save miles on the GT, currently at 40,000, and water from the tap as I had to wash her everyother day from the job that I work at is a dust bowl.

To the main point of post:

My question is on the intake spacer...

Yes I know it does not add HP,

...But being it is raising the T/B a half inch would it not at least keep the air going in a bit cooler perhaps, better gas mileage maybe?

I mean why would they manufacture it, market it, and sell it (Thanks American Muscle :cool:) when there is no point to it.

I've read every post I can on this and there is nothing good mentioned so I am trying to find the good.

Yes I bought one but now I am undecided if I should make it an ashtray or go ahead and install it?

Hahaha another oreo I love it. I have never heard or seen any proof that they are good for anything. I would list it on ebay to get a little money back.

This is precisely what I would do.

It's definitely not something I would waste money on.

Are you referring to an intake spacer, or throttle body spacer? Dont know about the GT's, but for a Mach the intake spacer is a worthy mod. A throttle body spacer on the other hand is not. I couldn't find any intake spacers on AM's site.

Waste of cash and our intake manifolds are already plastic so heat soak isn't a problem. They sell them for the same reason that the Tornado is sold. Because someone out there will buy it.

Actually if you bought it from AM they will probably take it back, they are amazing about returns.

Even American Muscle is advertising it as between 2-7 RWHP gain.

Anyone here ever dyno the results to actually prove there is no gain?

OK, since you already have the spacer go ahead and put it on and you tell us. Make an appointment at the tuner and do a pull w/o the spacer and one with the spacer.Then when we see 7rwhp we will all change our vote and you can be "Da Man" for a day.

that would be a throttle body spacer, an intake spacer goes between the upper and lower manifolds.

Oh and I did hook it up and my first launch my car did a 180...lol...never did that before. So now I am from 241 HP to 600 HP just from this spacer.

My car has black rims now. Oh and an intake spacer...lol

Oh one more thing if you are concerned there is a vacuum hose that goes to the back of the plenum (see attachment > red arrow) and before I took off the T/B I inspected it and my hand turned black just from touching it . You may want to inspect yours. All the other hoses were fine.
