chips and tuners vs. CDC Mustang Shaker System
 

hey guys, im looking for something to give my stang a little more power, which will do the trick better? chips and tuners? or shaker system?

Remove that 800lb spoiler from your trunk and that'll free up a little weight. :p

To answer your question, get a tuner/intake combo. A shaker hood is basically for looks and doesn't give you much, if any power. An tuner/intake will really wake up your car and that would be the best bet for you to make a little more power for your money.

get the tuner and some gears.

the shaker will not give you more horsepower, it is just for looks, and in my opinion, looks horrible unless you get the mach 1 hood. it DOES cool down you engine, bu you are not making the kind of horsepower that you need to cool down your engine so badly.

i recommend saving the money to buy gears and a tuner. do you have a 3.8l or a V8?? auto or manual??

Get a tune out of those mods listed it will actually make the car faster unlike the shaker.

I would go with SCT and they just plug into your obd port under the dash on the left side of the shifter/center console.

Ive heard that tuners mess up your engine faster bcuz your forcing it.. is this true??

absolutly not, lol. what are you forcing?? you are just changing the computer to get the most out of the octane of fuel. i recommend getting a 93 octane performance tune.

get some 4.10's! but tuner/cai is definitely the best upgrade to start with, builds your foundation so you can do more laterz

For the 04 and earlier cars a tuner/cai combo is not going to do nearly as much as it does on your 05+ cars.

i got a shaker setup for my 04, yeah, it is pretty much useless, i just got it cause it looks cool.

Did the person that said that say something like this:

"Hey, don't stick one of those thingies into the watever-you-call-it because it somehow stretches the metal stuff in such a way that your fetzer valve might break"?

Chips/tunes work! They are proven as hell.....just like the sun going up. Get a bad tune, you can ruin a motor.

On a near stock car, they help a little....on a modded car, they start to become an absolute must have.
