AM Tune?

Ok so I've read some threads about people that don't think AM has good tunes simply because they don't specialize in that area. The only mod I have is a CAI, but I would like to add a tune anyway. My question is would a AM tune be cool for this or should I go with like Justin from VMP tuning?

Justin is the very best.

I won't say that Justin is the best because I've only tried 2 tunes on my car. However, out of both the tunes, Justin's is the best.

I previously had an AM 87 octane tune on my car and switched to a 93 octane tune from Justin about 3 weeks ago. The AM tune was good, but there has been a world of difference between the AM tune and Justin's tune. Now, whether that difference is due merely to the octane switch, I couldn't tell you. My throttle response is a hell of a lot better with Justin's tune and the car seems to drive the way it should drive now. My only complaint about the tune is that my shifts are not as firm and don't snap my neck as much as I'd like them to. But that's nothing I can't fix on my own with my tuner.

Ok so it looks like I'll be contacting him soon. Is it necessary to get a dyno tune with only a CAI? I'm getting nervous about who I let touch my car and just hoping nothing goes wrong. I just want to be smart with my money and spend it the right way so I don't have to keep going back and forth trying to get stuff fixed.

No, wait until you are a little heavier modded to get a dyno tune. A CAI is a minor modification and doesn't really require the calibration that a dyno tune will give you. A handheld tune will work just fine.

The reason I and many others say don't get a tune from them is that they are simply a reseller of SCT products. Where as Justin at VMP makes his own tune files from thousands of dyno tunes he has done. I will bet money his tune makes more power ever time over a canned SCT tune from AM.com You should of just gotten the tuner/cai combo we told you about :)

You're right 100%. Now I'm going to end up spending a little more, but I'll take that as my first lesson.
