Headers From Hell!!!

Ok so I have to pass Smog (i know SUCKS) here soon and I have shorty headers on my GT and i have a leak and have a messed up o2 sensor, well i took my car in today to have it all fixed. Simply because I got annoyed dealing with it. So I got the sensors fixed and the headers tightened up and my mechanic said that the gaskets are bad. So I was like no big deal have the gaskets reaplaced but he said the it would be a reoccuring problem because the headers will loosen over time.

Tell me what you think, or any solutions to my problem.
Thank you!!!!

sounds like bullshit to me. how can he tell you that they will for sure loosen over time? arent they not designed to fit your vehicle? don't see why they would loosen any more than stock headers if they are installed right. maybe i don't know something about shorty headers than he does, i've never had any.

without locking header bolts you should check and retighten aftermarket headers frequently as they tend to back out.

headers will always loosen. It just happens. Get a wrench and some band-aids.

X2. Usually after a couple of heat cycles, they stay put, but locking header bolts (like the Stage 8 and Percy pieces) help. Too bad ARP doesn't make safety wire versions...

If you're using studs, tighten up the nuts and put a dab of Copper silicone on the exposed threads on the studs.

Also remember to tighten everything when warm. Just be careful and use your head in deciding what's warm.

warm is not equal to hot enough to melt the skin off your hand
