Opinion on electric water pumps

I'm looking at getting one of the Meziere electric water pumps instead of UDP's. Is it worth the cost?

Does anyone have one on his/her car?

One of those mods I need to do one day.

I have Lt1 friends who rock their pumps on their daily drivers and its been a few years 3 on one and 4 on another and they are running nice and cool.

On the trucks they are worth a solid 14rwhp which is nuts.

how would you go about changing from the belt driven pump to an electric, i heard they can free up a ton of HP. im not jacking your thread dude but if it frees up HP im all for doin it up.

Install is fairly simple, pull off old water pump, install new electric unit, hook up a few wires, refill coolant, enjoy. The electric unit has a free spinning idler pulley so that it uses the same stock belt configuration as you have now. Supposedly frees up 10-14 hp and can be used with a supercharger unlike UDP's.

Your not gonna see the gains that the trucks can pickup because they have mechanical fans which eats power too. On a mustang a solid 8rwhp is pretty normal from that mod. Which is pretty darn good.

Just keep a spare mechanical one and a new o-ring in your trunk if you're worried about it busticating on you. You should also look at a real coolant temp guage so you can see when it BEGINS to rise if the pump fails, then you won't overheat the motor.
