5.8 efi swap

alright I have a friend with a 91 bronco with a efi 5.8 windsor. The engine is strong but the body of the vehicle is falling apart and he bought it for $375 a few months ago. He said if I wanted the motor he will give it to me for $100 it's got like 80k on it

Is there any point in me trying to shoe horn a 351 into my stang

Is it possible/difficult

what kind of potential does the motor have

I know I will need a new hood, tranny, ecu, fuel pump and rear end

just need some opinions

You can put one in an SVT Focus......lol

Well IIRC, a 351 is like the same as a 302 just with a taller deck, kinda like a 5.4 is basically a 4.6 with a taller deck. So if you got a k member from an early sn95 that had a 302 that solves motor mounts. And maybe their are companies that make 1995 cobra r knockoff parts that might solve things like headers, an intake, etc... you could use a transmission from an early sn95 as well as the ecu... really if you had a mustang with a fox platform this swap would be as easy as swaping a 4.6 for a 5.4

A 351 swap is cake, since there is tons of aftermarket support. Also, a 351 is still shorter than a 4.6, so there will still be lots of room. I'd save up though and swap the heads out for at least GT40's, or do what I always suggest and get some Cleveland heads for some real power.

It looks like this motor is going to go in my buddies 93 fox his 5.0 has been getting up there in miles.

Anyone know if the efi can be converted over to a carb. My buddie is considering getting a edelbrock top end kit with heads cam and intake but it's a carbed set up it would be nice not to have to worry about an ecu too

if it can be done besides gas mileage what are the downsides of a carbed set up. This will not be a DD

Of course it can, remember, the 351 was born in the late 60's. As for the down sides, you will have less power under the curve, but you will pick up more top end. As for mileage, if you use the right carb, you will not loose any mileage. The key is to have the right set-up.
