How to get off steering wheel column?
1 Attachment(s)
I'm trying to replace my multifunction switch, there's 4 screws that secure the covers of the steering column together, 3 of them are in plain sight, but 1 (back right corner) is behind the damn dash no matter what angle you have the steering wheel at, and it's impossible to get a screw driver there because of that metal plating that's under the steering wheel. I'm about to just break this bitch off. Haynes doesn't know and I can't find anything useful online..
anyone? This is the problem Attachment 19501 |
How easy would it be to remove the dash section? At the factory, they apparently had the steering column in place before installing the dash. ALL manufactures seem to not give a damn about anyone having to actually work on their car after it's put together...all they care about is just putting it together.
Would a short screwdriver bit with a 5/16" (or whatever size it is) wrench on it get in there? If not, I would just try to take the lower section of the dash off. |
Also, I could look on Alldata, but I won't be at work again til Monday morning.

Doesn't that metal place come off? I think I took mine off once when I was messing with the gauge cluster but it was a long time ago. Or if the plate doesn't come off, try taking the gauge cluster out so maybe you could reach it from the top.
