exhuast plug for empty O2 slot???

I'm going from O/R X to the stock H on a 03 cobra. Correct me if im wrong, but there are 2 spots for the O2 sensors...the headers/manifolds and after the first or second set of cats right? Well an O/R pipe takes out the second set, and if i put on the stock H then would i have to plug up that hole in the pipe? That would make a bit of nasty noise coming through there and wouldnt want excess heat being released under the car. Thats only if the previous owner cut out the 02 sensors, if they are still dangling i will just screw them in. If not, what is the threads so i can put a plug in there?

more than likely the o2's are still there and screwed into the mid pipe. those things can be turned off in the tune that the car has.

the first set are right before the CATs and the rear set of o2's are right before the cat-back connection.

you wouldnt happen to know the mm of the threads incase they arent up there. I wont know til i get home and jack it up...just planning for the worse.

i'll go check out the bung i have and see if there are dimensions for it with thread count

usually they arent't cut off even if it is O/R x pipe it has four holes 4 the 4 o2's. I have a bassani o/r x pipe and it has all four holes in it .

Yeah thats one thing i have to check when i get home. I need to actually get under the car, hell i havent even see it in person yet, but im going for worse case scenario cause you never know what some idiots have done.

u use all the same slots man, i went from stock H to offroad, no holes to fill and shit.

mpt_1962 01-31-2009 10:59 PM

what im saying is.........IF for some reason he cut out the rear o2 sensors to run the x pipe that was on there then i will need to plug the hole. I dont know if he cut them out yet cause im not there to see, but i am planning for worst case scenario.

stanger00 02-01-2009 05:42 AM

nope, i didnt see anything that mentioned thread count or size. the bung came with my innovative wideband kit.

mustangV6_04 02-01-2009 07:44 PM

idk why someone would cut them off. The o/r x will still have the holes for the o2s then they just put a mil eliminator in. Nobody should ever cut them off. They should still be there unless they were stupid as hell

stanger00 02-01-2009 09:05 PM

if you think about it there will be something there any way to plug the holes in the aftermarket pipe thats currently on the car...

ALL mid-pipes that i have seen being sold on the internet have 4 holes in them for o2 sensors...

i think you're paranoid

mpt_1962 02-01-2009 09:15 PM

heres the deal...i bought the car and my wife went to pick it up. It had the X pipe on it, and the stock h was in the truck, following my wife to a muffler shop to swap it out. THEY put the stock H back on so i dont know if they took the o2's out and put them in the stock H. If you knew where i lived, you would understand the fear i have of other people touching my vehicles. But it had to be smogged before i got home so i had no choice.
