Never let someone borrow your car.

So I let my mom borrow my car for a couple weeks, since her pos taurus is in the shop, and she brings it back today, and I got out to check out the car to see if anythings wrong with it and my mom gets out of it and starts telling me some bullshit about how she went to wash my car today before she returned it, and that when she went to roll the window up so she could wash it, it wouldnt roll back up. Also, my tires are underinflated, and my interior wreaks of cigarette smoke. Now about the window...I tried pulling it up so I could just leave it that way, and it wouldnt budge, then I tried rolling it down to see if it would atleast move.....dumb idea on my part, it just rolled down even further and wouldnt roll back up. Now, is that the motor? And if so, how much does it cost to replace one?

That's some nasty shit dude. Could be the motor. I'd take off the door panel and make sure the window's in the track correctly. If it is the motor, you're gonna wanna replace it yourself. I tried 4 mechanics in 2 states, good thing about being a commuting college student, and the best price I got was a whopping 300 bucks.

It's not the motor....it rolled it back down. If the motor was bad it would not move up or down. Most likely it is the switch.

The motor is pain and the ass to replace and if you don't know what you are doing, best to leave it to someone who does.

The switch is easy as hell. This is what you should do....

- Pope the door trim panel that holds the switch in place.

- The switch is held by two screws....remove the screws and drop it out.

- At this point, you can either replace the entire switch with a new one (about $50) or continue to the next step.

- The switch can now be carefully opened into two peices. Once exposed, you will see all the copper connections.

- Get a small peice of sand paper and clean the connects....you can also try using some electrical ontact spray.

- Then, put it all back together and see if it works.

hmm. That sounds like a pain in the anus. Ill see if I cant do that.I dont know how to take the whole door panel off though to see if the window is off track.

Same thing happened yesterday on my other forum. Guy let his GF borrow his A6, and she managed to bottom it out and crack the pan. Lost all of the oil, but she was actually smart enough to turn it off. Something even more amusing happened a few months back.. Guys wife drove his S6 through a HUGE puddle, at least a few feet deep. Water entered the intake snorkel and hydrolocked the engine. Car had to be totalled, because Audi doesn't sell engines after a model is discontinued. That's why if somebody asks to use my car, the answer is NO. Oh yeah.. I don't let people smoke in my car either. If they complain, I throw them the fvck out.
