Miles/ tank

For you near stock 02- 04 GT guys, how many miles do you get per tank in the city? List your mods if you have any.

blownstang 12-20-2008 07:22 PM

My car isn't really near stock but i'll still tell ya.

Full bolt ons and 4.10's all city driving

Summer gas: 14.5mpg
Winter gas: 10.5 mpg

03gtmustang 12-20-2008 07:27 PM

How many gallons are left once the light comes on?

blownstang 12-20-2008 08:25 PM

I've heard some say it's 3, but on mine it's 2.5. The most i've ever filled up with was a little over 13 gallons.

03gtmustang 12-20-2008 08:49 PM

Guess Im where I should be then, 15- 16mpg in the city. Only mods are catback and 4.10's.

spike_africa 12-21-2008 07:25 AM

Before my tune running rich I was getting 14-16mpg with the usual bolt on's no gears. After my tune its back to where it was when it was stock 16-18mpg in the city. Usually has 2 gallons left in it when I fill up on E.

Stephen4036 12-21-2008 08:07 AM

dude wtf i get 12=13 how are you guys getting 16

spike_africa 12-21-2008 09:09 AM

We have manual tranny's and keep our cars running in good shape lol. Honestly though, driving style has a lot to do with what mpg you get. If I go to WOT all the time I can get as low as 13mpg. But just driving it easy with just a few WOT hits I'm always at 16+ now. When it was bone stock I got 18mpg all the time and on the highway I got 29.8 and 29.9 a few times going back and forth to NC. I think my car was just a freak when it was stock. It even ran faster then many of my friends mustangs and other mustangs at the track even when it was bone stock.

Stephen4036 12-21-2008 09:47 AM

Into parked cars?

SxyXc 12-21-2008 11:39 AM

i am too lazy to calculate me mpg, but my catted x and mac mufflers on a stock 97 gt vert auto i get about 200-250 a tank. if i drive it hard with lots and lots of WOTs i have gotten as low as 150 for a tank. but driving like a granny to driving normal with about half throttle cracks at most lights i did not see any change in mpg just maybe 5-10 miles less on a tank

TNell 12-21-2008 02:17 PM

20-22mpg combined i fill up at 250-280 light came on the other day and it took about 12 to fill up meaning around 3 was left

03gtmustang 12-21-2008 03:23 PM

Yeah I usually get around 200 until the light comes on. Thats 100% city driving. I think the gears make a bigger difference then people think.

Driving in town, 18-21 depending on gas and how I drive.
Highway, depending on speed and traffic, 25-28.
Only mod engine wise are long tubes. However, those numbers may improve once I fix an exhaust leak, the busted cat, and the crap clutch.

mpt_1962 01-15-2009 10:57 PM

with these mods...
VT stage 2 n/a
Long tube headers
bbk H w/high flows...slp loudmouth 1
75mm throttlebody
k&n intake
3800 stall
4.10 rear
and tune......
i was getting about 200-235 a tank on average. Automatic by the way. Thats before the light came on i would fill up too. Dont like running low on fuel, dont wanna overheat the fuel pump and lose her.

stanger00 01-16-2009 08:33 AM

hmmm when i was in delaware i got 230-240 a tank if i babied the car and stayed out of boost. that was with the stock converter and stock tranny. i also have 3.73's

california i got between 180-210 with 3500 stall and aftermarket tranny same tune just reduced timing.

now, in germany i get 120-150 a tank full!!! now thats just fucking rediculous. so i did a full tune up. i changed air filter, IAC, plugs, front o2 sensors, passenger side manifold to mid pipe gasket, fuel filter. my mom drove around in the stang with a wicked fucking exhaust leak and she fucked up the o2 sensors and plugs. i changed the IAC because the car would stall out on start ups. after i changed all of that i still got 150-170 a tank so i figured it was because the fuel i was running was winter gas and its usually worse than the summer mix. i was fine with that MPG and than i drove a 120 mile trip one way and the needle didnt even hit the half tank mark and i was cruisng at 80 so i guess the car is fine and just hates city driving.

mpt_1962 01-16-2009 08:50 AM

ive seen that a few times now...whats the differance in "winter gas" and "summer gas"???

stanger00 01-16-2009 09:00 AM

im not really sure but im sure it has to do with some extra chemicals to keep the fuel from freezing...just like diesel has problems with gelling when it gets too cold.

nosman757 01-16-2009 02:51 PM

I get about 280 out of my tank but I don't have any cat and I got a stick so that helps I guess. I have got 310 one time I drove all interstate.

blownstang 01-16-2009 03:23 PM

Summer: 170-180mi right before the light comes on
Winter: 125mi

This is all city driving.

JackThe Ripper 01-16-2009 04:17 PM

i was getting around 20mpg cit/hwy both.

had diablow tune: 410: intake, xpipe, straights w/cats....

lazyhomie1908 01-16-2009 09:01 PM

Well I am running around 18mpg with mods in sig. I have installed the diablo tune and since then that's what I've been getting with mostly city driving and a very few WOT. Before the tune I was like at 22 mpg like 275 per tank sometimes.
