Supercharger Or New Engine?
 

I am looking to get 375-450Hp What do you guy think I should do? And How much would it cost to have A new engine Installed?

Best thing would be a Kenne Bell SC.A new engine will cost alot more and won't have that much HP unless you spend alot more.

I wouldnt put much more then 400rwhp on a stock block.

i agree also..i have read that 420rwhp is the absolute max

Get the S/C first...if you had a new motor, then you would just have to wait even longer to get more power

I wouldnt worry about hitting 400rwhp, doubt thatll happen with your set up. So just get the blower and you can always forge the motor later on and add more boost and what not.

First off, Get a Novi2000 RR. Need cheaper prices, PM me. I am a dealer for procharger, vortech, and Paxton. I just bought my Novi2000 and will be on my doorsteps in about 2 weeks.

Second, I was thinking about a motor swap and putting in a cobra block.

Decided that i will end up getting forged rods pistons and a new crank. Doing that you can go from 8 psi and shoot that bad boy up. Go from 400hp to 600's. Also think about getting heads p&p.

you can always get a full kit that will cost more and come with a crappy mail order tune. You are better off saving money, getting a tuner kit, buying the few parts you need and then taking it to your local shop and getting a real safe tune put on and getting more HP.

Most will say not to drive your car to the dyno to get it tuned if you dont already have a tune on it, however, if you drive under 2k rpm there and dont build up too much boost you will be ok. or contact your local shop and most have connections with tow companies to get it towed at 40.00 or less.

The guy Tim on MPH has Mail order tunes that have never failed, and people run with them for quite some time

As spring said MPH doesnt just have a crappy mail order tune, they are spot on and never have lost an engine.

Also there is no need for an intercooler at 9psi on a centri. Higher boost yes, but not at that low.

If your gunna get a supercharger you may as well get a real one.

Yes, tim may be able to make a pretty mean mail order tune, however you are not getting the best that your car can do while still in the safe zone. Tim also makes sure that his tunes are really really really safe. Every car is different and just by telling someone your mods is not going to be the best you could do.

Your always best by going to a shop that tunes and has a dyno to get it tuned. Im already in line to get my car tuned by ed-clark, and i can guarantee that with me going to the dyno and having him tune it will make as a better tune and still be on the safe side.

almost any tuner can make a real safe tune for a s/c car and make it run pretty decent. Also people have had to get Tim to retune the tune that he has sent out because it has not worked correctly.

All cars have differ air fuel ratios, no two cars are the same.

And with the intercooler you are able to run it at 8-9 psi and get more hp safetly and not having to crank the boost up more just to match the same performance.

If you have the money it is best to go ahead and get the intercooler or after cooler.

alot of people just take it to a professional, and have the tune modified for the a/f ratio, which i belive a dyno isnt needed, Im not disagreeing with you, but if you can affored a s/c but not a dyno tune, i think a s/c w/o a dyno tune for a while would be fine

yes using these mail order tunes are ok to use for a while, however it is best to get it tuned when someone can hook up the wideband air/fuel sensor.

Normally when you buy a new programmer or chipset from a shop they will give you a free tune, so if you want an excalibor anyway or diablo, may as well get the tune done correctly.

Also, i am fortunate to get ed clark to tune mine. Benefits of living by him also living down the road from steen racing, virginia speed, and MAS helps as well.

i feel good knowing i paid $4089 to have a Complete kit, 4" Boost pipe and to have it shipped..(waiting now)
im also paying $550 for install and dyno tune...
$4639 = All said and done..not bad in my opinion

Nah, Im just saving for the 03's to come down. But, dont get me wrong, supercharged 2v's are prolly a lot of fun, but, Im just going for the gusto. Tim does make a mean tune.
