anyone got an answer for this?

Are hydraulic clutches normally powered by the same master cylinder as the braking system?

just curious..

ok... a buddy of mine drives a 97 honda qualude and he is having issues shifting, i guess they have a hyrdraulic clutch. from the sound of it it seems like it is not engaging the clutch because he has a lot of diccuculty getting in any of the gears.

he might need a refill of the fluid.

Most hyd. clutch systems use a slave cyl. and a seprate reservoir, some are even self contained.

i dont think they actually have a resivoir, although the only cars ive worked on with hydrualic clutches were v6 firebirds and camaros models 82-92 their were no type of resivoir just a matter of filling the trans with fluid. and the slave cylinder just runs off of brake fluid i believe.

What he needs it to sell it and redeem his manhood by buying a 'Stang.

Hmm...personally I don't think refilling the fluid will help (unless it's low). What I would do first is keep the car off and shift through the gears, listen for any abnormalities. Does the clutch work at all? Or is he jamming the shifter into the gears? Might have a clutch plate that's all jacked up too...

Honda's have a separate reservoir for the clutch its on the firewall on the driver side check it.
