LongTube Headers and Lowering.

will my long tube headers scrape the ground? if i get H&R SS springs installed? the shop says they see where my mufflers have scraped on something already.

03gtmustang 05-27-2008 09:19 PM

Never had my LT's scrape, midpipe has though.

3.8LMustang 05-27-2008 09:23 PM

dont think the LT headers will do that, shit my exhaust pipes scrap right now, but that if i go over a speed bump real fast, in which i dont do anymore cuz i learned my lesson, lol, n im thinking of getting lt headers b4 the gears n t-lok, cuz i dont want to pay for the labor right now, lol

SLP02GT 05-28-2008 06:37 AM

do the v6 exhausts hang any lower?

venom 05-28-2008 02:58 PM

I had issues with hooker LTs. I went with midlength Bassani this time.

V6_Mustang_Power 05-28-2008 06:28 PM

ok so i orderd Mac Longtube headers w/ the air thing from V6mustangstuff.com. what will i need to install these? my mechanic said new gaskets and bolts..

and i also orderd an Mac O/R Shorty H-pipe. will i need something so the check engine ligth wont come on?

mil eliminators or hand held tuner

okie dokie and the tuner is on its way and i already chose the choices for the exhaust stuff i orderd :)

01FR500 05-28-2008 08:13 PM

You can turn your rear oxygen sensors off with the tuner so you don't have to get MIL eliminators. If you do get the MIL eliminators get the extensions also since you got long tubes.

okie dokie, sweet. what do you mean if i get the MIL eliminaters get the extensions too? if i dont get the MIL eliminaters do i still get the extensions?

V6_Mustang_Power 05-28-2008 08:33 PM

when i orderd my Xcal 3 i chose for the exhaust choices Long tube headers and a o/r H-pipe. so should i be good?

01FR500 05-28-2008 09:01 PM

Your probably good, I don't know much about the Xcals though, like if you can go in and change your parameters like you can with the Diablosport. If you told them all your suff then you are probably ready to go. The exensions just connect to your O2 sensors, since they will be farther back, I guess you will need them anyway even if you don't get MIL eliminators. Can you turn off your rear O2 sensors in your state or do you have emissions tests and stuff?

Safe bet; Get the MIL eliminators and O2 extensions so you don't have to turn off the rear O2 sensors so you don't have to worry about the tuner or emissions.

spike_africa 05-29-2008 06:41 AM

You dont need to buy MIL's your tuner can turn them off dont waste your money. Also I dont know if your decent in electrical work but all you need to do is add some wire to lengthen your stock 02 sensors no need for $$$ when a few bucks of wire and crimps can do the same job.

V6_Mustang_Power 05-29-2008 06:56 AM

okie dokie, so i'll just get the O2 sensor extender things. and i'll just turn off the Rear O2 sensors, but if i do that will i need to buy the O2 extender sensors for the Headers?

01FR500 05-29-2008 07:49 AM

No, do what Spike said, you should try to extend the wires yourself before spending money to do it. You need to keep the O2 sensors connected to the headers or else you will have an open hole. On my V6, one of my O2 sensor's wire was cut but since I had them turned off it didn't matter.

V6_Mustang_Power 05-29-2008 10:05 AM

oh ok, thanks :D

00blkstanggt 05-29-2008 10:51 AM

You really should do the research before you actually go and spend all this money on the parts.

V6_Mustang_Power 05-29-2008 11:16 AM

why? lol. if i forget somethin i need then i'll just get it.

Do you even know what your smog laws are like? Long tube headers won't pass smog, so unless you have a hook up you won't be passing. With all the money you have spent so far, you could already have supercharged your car.

redfire04 05-29-2008 06:29 PM

I've scraped 3-4 times. You have to take any sharp hill/speedbump at an angle and you'll be okay. I'm only about 1" lower with steeda sport springs.

V6_Mustang_Power 05-29-2008 07:12 PM

okie dokie, thanks :). i'll be tearing the full exhaust off this weekend or the beggining of the week then wait for the new stuff to come (headers and mid-pipe). been thinking about switching my exhaust out to MAC too so everything will bolt right up. hmmmm

V6_Mustang_Power 05-29-2008 07:52 PM

ok so their are 2 sensors on each side. will i have to get 2 o2 sensor extenders for the headers?

V6_Mustang_Power 05-29-2008 08:04 PM

will i need one set of these or 2? http://www.americanmuscle.com/bbk-o2...harnesses.html cause i saw 2 sensors on each side. these are the headers that will be put on http://www.stangmods.com/PhotoGaller...1789%2DCERAMIC are there 2 spots for 2 sensors? cause i see 2 things sticking out.

00blkstanggt 05-30-2008 09:16 AM

Did you not read what people already told you about the o2 extensions? Either buy the extensions or wire it yourself with longer wires. Either way they to be extended to reach the o2s. You should just need one set. You need them to extended so they can reach and fit into your midpipe. The others will fit into the header itself.
