Damage from clutch not being fully released?
 

The other day I was about to do a burnout in parking lot in my '02 GT, but then thought better of it while I was releasing the clutch. So I was moving along slowly at like 5000 rpms with the clutch only half engaged. Can this cause any damage? I didn't feel any difference afterwards, but I felt like such and idiot afterwards lol. Won't be doing that again....

over time......its just wear and tear if u riding on your clutch.

one or two times wont do too much for you. consider it like hitting a pothole. sooner or later something will give!

You just took about 5000 miles of friction material off the clutch and added a few more hot spots on the flywheel and pressure plate.

Next time Shit and Get off the Pot....... HaHa

From many bad experiences with my cars clutches, dropping the clutch isnt exactly good for it, i only do it at around 1750 rpms 5000 could f up ur preasure plate, i blew my clutch out after droppin the clutch at 3500 then i missed 4th gear at 120 mph, blew right out. Also if your getting up there in hp, i got a stage 2 and aluminum flywheel for mine, yeah and tranny re-build due to damage from dropped clutch.

When I used to do long burnouts. ( I quit that after about 4 or 5 good ones). I would start in 2nd gear at about 2000 RPM and then once your foot is completely of the clutch, use your throttle to make a very nice long burnout. I can usually hold down the throttle for a good long stretch of black marks. (I'm gonna make a video one of these days). My stang likes to dance around a make those "S" shaped marks, so I have to be careful not to turn the wheel too much. My stock 04 GT will light em up mostly with just a touch of clutch and a lot of throttle.. no need to rev it to 5 grand.. I Love it. :smokin:
