Help Please, engine problems.

Well, I took my '99 GT out for a stroll down the autobahn tonight and it only ran 140mph maxed out, which is weird because normally I can get 150+ without even breaking a sweat.

When I slowed down to return and troubleshoot, I noticed the car sputtering on hard acceleration all the way to about 4500rpm then it would runs smooth again (but still lacked the power it normally has).

Parked, let it idle for a bit and every few seconds you can hear an out of place pop in the exhaust. Drove it around and even under light acceleration you can feel the stutter.

Just curious if anyone has experienced a similar problem.

This is my daily driver so it has me a bit worried, I plan on checking the spark-plugs tomorrow. Also, can someone tell me where the coil pack is located on a SN95 (I haven't had a need to look for it until now).

I don't know anything about your problem but; Over 100 mph the stock speedometer is not very accurate and the difference between 140-150 could possibly just be a headwind. And you have no coil pack, our mod motors have a coil-on-plug.

pull your plugs. I'll bet you burned one.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm heading out right now to check it out.

The spark plugs look good, no signs of detonation in the porcelain, exct.

Just to be safe though ill take it to the mechanics on base and have them replace all of the spark plugs and the coil packs. Don't have the time to do it myself right now.

P.S. Coil-on-plug still has coil packs, they are just on the plugs instead of somewhere else. At least thats the way I always thought it worked.

Sounds to me like it might be a missfire situation. That means not enough fuel or spark. Replacing plugs/COPS is a good start.
