commin from some1 with a v6. get a gt and get it in manual if u want a standard that badly. other then that ask jack the ripper.....hes got an amazing auto stang and im sure he can give u some more input if u wanna bring up ur shift points (tuner necessary :P) |
would i need to swap out the whole trans?
might as well. get a better tranny then a stock one. FRPP is great.
hold up scratch that....dun think they have transmissions
yeah i was thinkin about it because im pretty sure the problems with my car has to do with the transmission( i cant just put it in drive and move...i have to have it in a lower gear get rollin than bump it to drive in order to go) so i figured that if i need to put a new transmission in it than i might as well swap it to manual as well

he says that u can keep parts if u can find a beat up one off some1 else to switch back and forth with. in the end he also said dont do it. what makes u wanna get a manual so badly just curious? if you wanna just bring up some times at a track then just get a xcal or somethin and ull b fine. |

i would just rather drive stick...its my first car that ive had for 2 years and when i was buyin it my rents wouldent let me get a v8 or a stick because it was my first car...if i could i would just sell it and buy a v8 stick but im in college and money is 2 tight to be tryin to do that now
i got the same deal. what kinda problems u got with it right now
im not sure whats wrong with it...at first i would just be driving down the road and when i would hit the gas the engine would just rev than it stopped doin that for awhile and was runnin fine for like a month but now like i said when ever gears change like say backing out of a parking spot and i go to put in from reverse to drive or even park to drive the car wont move so i have to drop it into a lower gear to get it rollin...but once its actually moving foward i can put it in drive and it will move

is it leaking anything? check ur tranny fluid.
for the night jack ur back end up and look if it dripped anything when u wake up in the morning. had the same thing wiht a fox body. it was my first car too. i ended up tearing a hole in the transmission from neutral drops trying to be a show off and squeek my tires.....the easy way. gimme a break tho i was 16 and didnt know i should b holdin the break while i do it:P |
haha...i love breakstands...my friend who works on cars said i had a tiny leak in the transmission about a year ago and every once in awhile ive put in more transmission fluid and a few months ago i put in some stop leak stuff for transmissions and as far as i know their hasent been anything leakin since i put in the stop leak...would gettin the leak checked out and fixed possiabally fix the problem?
yes. no question about it. quite the expensive job though. i got fed up with it and sold me car and bought a newer one. got a 95 v6 after that.....then i blew the suspension on that too. now im in a 01 v6.
damn...i was rele hopin it wouldent be that expensive of a fix, my dad was talkin about takin my car and using it as a trade in along with his car so he could get a new one ive finally talked him outta it...if its gonna be 2 expensive to fix i might as well let him get rid of it and pay off the rest of the note...the only bad thing about it is i get left mustangless and no money to buy a new one lol
do you think it would cost less than a grand to fix???
bang for ur buck.....fox body 5L. much cheaper then u could sell ur sixer for. and if its 88 or older u can make it an "antique" on ur insurrance. atleast where im from
so get ur dad to trade it in...then buy ur ass a new stang :P pull the whole daddy....ill give u my car if u give me some money back :P |
