dome light won't go off!

hey guys...

so i was out at the store with my sister and we got back in the car, shut the doors, and the dome light wouldn't go off. checked to make sure all the doors and trunk were shut several times and that nothing was blocking them.

drove him and did a little visual inspection and can't figure it out. everything is shut and apparently in working order, except for the fact that in "normal" operation, the dome light will not go off while the car is driving. it stays on also while the car is off, so its basically always on, any ideas?

are you sure someone didn't turn your headlight knob all the way to play a trick on you? :D. Sometimes its small things like that you may not have thought of.

short in the switch that controls it? "always on mode" tripped at all times because of this perhaps.

had that when i had my sn95. i just took the center one out and used the 2 on the outside of it. i thought fugg it they work just fine. i even used some xenon bulbs in there to illuminate what i needed to illuminate a bit better.

just ask urself how often u use it. then ask could what u use it for be done with the other 2?

My guess is the door switches are bad that trigger the inside lights when you open the doors.

very common problem on 1999 up car and trucks....there is a pin switch on the door latches that come packed in a heavy grease and when the weather changes this grease causes the pin in the switch to stick, leaving the dome light on and sometimes, killin' the battery......you can try cleaning the switch of the grease and just spray wth WD-40 or replace wth a new switch.....

I had the same issue last week. get some WD-40 or liquid wrench and spray down the latch opening in the middle of the door. Aim it up towards the window, thats where the switch is. Then open and close the door several times to work the switch. Might as well do both sides to be safe.
