GAS PEDAL !@#!!!!
 

My first post was just after I bought my 2004 GT with 5 speed in October
of 2007.
I inquiered about the position of the pedals finding that the gas pedal is
buried so deep as opposed to brake and clutch that it just did'nt seem
right!
I have been driving my wife's new TrailBlazer while she's been in LA for about 4 days. Today I jumped into my GT and re-discovered that damned
gas pedal problem- the right edge of my size 10 shoe will scrape the carpet of the transmission tunnel because the gas pedal is literally less than 1/8" of an inch away from it!
I don't have a big foot but my right shoe is constantly getting caught up down there!
Has anyone noticed this and is there any solution?
I don't want to have to wear ballerina slippers just to drive my beloved GT!

Why do you need two threads on the same thing?

Hum....I really never noticed that. I suppose the pedal might be adjusted wrong.

I've done what they did in the writeup, and I would say definitely stick to the metal hose clamps. I tried doing this with a plastic spacer and zip ties, but a few passes down the strip revealed that the zip ties slowly start to back off and the whole setup comes undone. I think the hose clamps would make it a bit more permanent. I've heard that by doing this you risk stretching the throttle cable, but I've never heard of any ACTUAL problems occurring.

Randy has stated why Ford did this already. It's in case of a panic situation which is why the brake and accel are uneven.

Just curious, has anyone accually noticed a difference in performance because of it? I personally like the stock setup... but if im not hitting wide open throttle, I'll do the mod.

There's no performance to be had with this mod. It's more of a comfort thing. I like the feel of having both pedals at the same level. This is also a good idea if you road race and do a lot of heal and toe braking.

I tried to post this yesterday and had problems:
I think there was a TSB on this, the carpet got in the way and would "hang" the gas pedal, so you might want to look at trimming the carpet for add clearence..
also there has been some problems wth the gas pedals on 1994 up Mustangs where the metal brkt attaches to the plastic pedal.......the machine thats presses the pin to join the 2 parts, usally cracks the plastic on the pedal where it joins to the metal brkt, so inspect this area for and signs of problems.....

yeah this is def a prob , try it with a 13 1/2!!! lol:eek:
